This is war! I want dead moles! I want blood! OK, well...this is the third trap I've purchased here on Amazon. The first two were duds. This one had the little mother clamped in the jaws in a couple hours and I'm seeing piles of dead moles in my dreams! It's nearly identical in appearance to the others so I can only guess that the "sensor" is more sensitive, more accurate. Here's a tip of the hat to Casey who posted great tips on setting up (for a different brand, but same idea). Be sure to pay attention! From CASEY: FINALLY - a mole trap that WORKS! First off I'm going to say that yes I had trouble at first catching moles with this trap - but I didn't give up - I just had to figure out what I was doing wrong. Once I figured it out it's been dead moles ever since. I've trapped 13 moles in the last two months out of my yard using this trap - I'm ecstatic because my yard was getting over-run with stupid moles. People say I'm crazy and to just leave the moles alone - this is nonsense - the only good mole is a dead mole! Let me tell you how to use this trap: 1. First off you have to know your enemy. Moles are stupid - they only know how to do a few things - Dig and/or repair tunnels and smell stuff - they have a REALLY good sense of smell! Also - they get flat out irate when you mess up their tunnels. When they smell/feel outside air coming into their little tunnel complex they will almost immediately go in search of where that air is coming from and fix the problem. Again - they are really good at fixing their tunnels - use this info to your advantage! 2. NEVER touch this trap with your bare hands! Remember how moles can smell really good? Well if they smell you (or any other weird smell) on this trap they will simply tunnel around it - which will infuriate you. What works for me is I leave the trap outside and only handle it with gloves on. Also - keep a large screwdriver or some other implement to dig with handy that is free of human scent. 3. Check the nuts on the side of the trap to make sure they are not too tight. Mine were way too tight and it took entirely too much force to spring the trap closed. I loosened the nuts probably close to a full turn if not more on both sides. After I did that it was a lot better. This trap is not supposed to have a "hair trigger" otherwise it would go off too easily. So don't wear yourself out trying to make it have a hair trigger. Setting the Trap: First off you need to roll your yard flat and wait a little while to see where the active moles are at. It won't take long - 24 hours max. When you find tunnels - look for nice straight(ish) tunnels - these are their "main corridors" you could say. Don't bother messing around with the tunnels that are going in all different directions or in circles- they may never return to these tunnels - again - only look for nice straight runs to set your trap. When you find a good place to set the trap do this exactly: 1. Firmly step on about a foot long section of the tunnel and smash it down flat 2. Push the trap into the ground on the spot you just smashed down. 3. Step on the trap to open the jaws apart. 4. While your foot is still on the trap - "rock" it back and forth real good to open up the earth so the jaws don't get bound up - you want the jaws to snap shut really fast. Also put your full weight on the trap to really push it down tight to the ground - you want the trigger pad firmly on top of the ground. 5. About a foot on both sides of the trap on a part of the tunnel that you have NOT smashed down - use the screwdriver to open up a good sized hole...big enough to stick a golf ball in - you want PLENTY of outside air to get into the tunnel! 6. Go get a beer and wait - sometimes within 30 mins you will see the trap spring. Then simply go look at the holes you made - one of them will be fixed - the other will not be. He's dead inside the trap on the side where it got fixed - and that's the last thing he ever did. Go throw him out and re-roll the yard and repeat until you are mole free. So far my record is 4 moles in 24 hours - 3 of those were inside of 3 hours of each other. Also - moles will come and take up residence where you've already killed several before so beware of that. Don't think that just cause you got one that you can ignore that area of your yard for awhile - another one will set up shop sometimes within days. It took me a long time to win back my yard. Follow these instructions and be vigilant and you will win the war. Update - August 2017 - Many many dead moles later the trap is still working great. I think I've decimated the entire mole population in this area. My neighbors don't have any moles now either. Thumbs up still! One word of advise..make sure that you push straight down on the trap when you push it into the ground. If you get it sideways at all it could bend things and then the trap won't work correctly so keep this in mind.

This did the trick. They are strong, easy to use, safe for children because the entire mechanism is under the ground. They do require a bit of tightening on the hinges to get them to trigger correctly, but that I'm sure depends on your soil. If you have moles you can't get rid of, this is your solution. Find the ridges in your yard that show where the moles travel. Crush 1-2 feet of one, check the next day to see if it's rebuilt. If it is, they use that runway often. Crush it down again, then place the trap along that space. They'll be caught (and killed instantly) while rebuilding the runway. It's a very clean process, the only thing on the traps is dirt. It's been years of mole problems, planting poison, castor oil around the house and yard, coffee grounds...nothing worked. These do. Our yard is safer to walk, the grass is happier, the trees are happier, this is what you need.

YAY!!! These traps actually worked! They are durable and reusable. I had moles digging up my yard for years and I tried everything from repellent sprays to poison pellets but nothing worked. Until I finally decided to use traps. I have trapped 4 moles in my yard and I am so relieved. No more dead grass and tunnels everywhere. I learned in the process that the traps must be set correctly. Follow the instructions on the product video (also find videos on YouTube) and make sure the metal disc is flush with the ground. It cannot be tilted, it must be flush and centered. I used a metal rod to position the disc before I made the final push into the ground over the tunnel. Also make sure you flatten the visible tunnel (the run) using the heel of your foot a few feet on both sides of the trap. Moles will always repair their runs. Use gloves for your protection and so you won’t get your scent on the trap. The moles will avoid the area if they get a whiff of you. That’s the trick!! I hope I don’t have to trap anymore but if some come back, I’ll go trapping again! I hope this helps someone else to get rid of their mole problem!

I'm on the fence with these. I'm a woman, moles are destroying my zoysia grass/yard. I have tried jucey fruit, all the mole balls Amazon sells. I'm not doing poison - cause of my farm/animals. So these got good reviews I get 2 of them. It takes an act of congress for a woman to get them set. I'm not strong enough. I you tubed and watched many video's wanting someone to explain to me how to get them set for a small woman. I'd get it locked after trying 10 trys , I'd turn to walk away and it popped back up - I'd go back and put both feet on it - all weight - get it latched, walk away and I heard it bounce back up. I spent all this time in the hot sun, over 15 mins doing all I could to get it latched and to stay! My back hurts and my body hurts from fighting with these springs to get it to stay latched. I wish someone would tell me what to do to make it easy. It is NOT EASY - unless you are a 250 pound man. On the flip side I caught a mole the first night. So here I am - wondering how do I find the strength to release this mole. It is a wonderful contraption - that works, but can they not make it more simple, easy for a woman to set it. The directions and youtube make it so simple, but it is "NOT" . Give ideas for why it won't catch to lock, why it keeps popping back up? I wondered if loosening the screws, but those springs seem so strong/tight - they would still be hard for a woman to have the strength to get it to stretch and latch. So frustrating I could cry - cause I need these set, but the dread of going back out there to fight and fight and fight to get them "locked" and ready has me mad. Especially watching the men folk do it on video's and it is such a piece of cake for them.

Best trap, easy to use and and with practice you'll be successful every time. I've tried others and this is the only one that consistently works.
