The HP Thunderbolt Dock 280W G4 with the combo cable has been outstanding for my setup. The combo cable alone makes it worth it if you have an HP ZBook that needs more power than a regular USB-C charger can provide. Everything gets the proper power through one connection, which keeps things simple and clean. I’m running two external displays along with my laptop, and the dock handles it all effortlessly. No flickering, no lag, and no random disconnects. It just works every single time. The variety of ports is another big plus. There are HDMI ports, DisplayPorts, USB-C ports, and USB-A ports, so you can connect pretty much anything you need without extra adapters.

I ordered this because it was the cheapest at the time. When I tried to plug it in, of course it didn't work (the fan kicked on for less than a second, then unit wouldn't turn on). After a few hours with HP support, I ordered a new one. In hindsight, things that make me wonder: 1) HP had no record of the serial number of my dock 2) I learned when I received the new one that the CD was missing in the one I ordered from this seller 3) notice the difference in the box I got from this seller (left) versus the new seller (right) below Maybe it's nothing, maybe there's something going on here. I would save yourself the risk of aggravation (and hours on the phone with HP).

Lo recibí en Argentina rápidamente y en perfecto estado. Simplemente lo conecté a mi HP Fury G10 y todo funciona correctamente. Estoy muy satisfecho.

When the company I work for was acquired by a larger company, the new company put us on HP products. Right out of the gate the docking station that was shipped with the laptop was inferior for the work I was doing. I got after doing some research and calling HP to find out that this particular docking station was better rated than the one that came with the laptop. In the research I did, I also read a lot of reviews. Much of those reviews (including reviews on HP's website), we not particularly favorable. I have had off and on trouble with this docking station extending the image from my laptop to the external monitors. Often times at least on of the monitors will just go to a black screen and you have to wait until it comes back. With the help of our company IT I ran a diagnostic check and updated the necessary drivers. This would work for a few weeks to a month and then start doing it again. Finally a few weeks ago (just before Christmas 2024) I updated the firmware for the docking station. After the update, it became a brick. I had the IT guy check it out and he confirmed as much. I don't recommend using these docking stations unless you absolutely have to. I think they have issues from software to hardware/bad wires. I have had two of these and since it's for work will need to get a third. Both of the first two seemed to suffer from similar issues.

Purchased this item in july , deployed to user on 8/25 intermittent network issues , bypassed the network port , a week later intermittent video issues. replaced the cables , still an issue, swapped laptops on workstation, worked firn for a week , then same issue network and video started again. Third party support installed drivers and firm ware still an issue. Quality issue .
