Excellent Sony recorder

Voice recorder arrived one week earlier then expected. It arrived perfectly packaged. For decades I have serviced reel to reel tape recorders.. all qualities of cassette decks including those in the music industry. For many years I corresponded with family members with cassette tapes. My daughter's music teacher lost my pocket voice recorder so I needed a replacement. So I purchased the Sony ICD-BX140 4GB Voice Recorder. It is top notch quqaity, gimmick free, free of useless never used functions, anybody can understand and use the recorder within a few minutes. The batteries last long enough. This voice recorder is exactly what I wanted and operates exactly as i wanted.. Pricewise amazing. Denny

Product has worked well. Okay sound quality and pretty good playback audio. It was easy to use also. I ended up buying a plug-in microphone and it really boosted sound quality. The product would have received 5-stars but it is lacking a key feature for me.....the ability to download the audio file. While i was able to playback my audio as many times as I wanted, I was not able to store the audio file on a secondary storage device which is an important feature. While I still use this recorder, my preference has been the Sony ICDUX560BLK which has a built-in USB that easily plugs into my laptop for downloading.

This recorder is clear sounding, and easy to use. I can record my piano, and it sounds great! Nice, pocket-size. The folders are great for organizing. The instructions tell you to go online for additional help and settings, which are real easy to navigate through. Don't put the entire address in your browser - only go to the help guide section for the product.

Love the ease of use and different folders but this recorder only worked for 1 year. Playback recordings sound awful, echoes and garbles. I've tried trouble shooting suggestions but it no longer records clearly. I had an older model of the same recorder that lasted 17 years. Todays electronics are such a disappointment- cost is higher, quality is poor, short lived and or lacking...sad. What happened to making quality items, does anyone care anymore?

Very happy with this recorder. What I like most is the separate "folder" button. On my older sony recorders, I had to go through the menu process to be able to change folders. This makes it easy to categorize messages by various topics. Also, this recorder has 5 folders, as opposed to 4 on my previous recorders. One (minor) thing I'm not thrilled with is having to slide down the "power" button and wait 4 or 5 seconds (while "access" flashes) for the recorder to be ready to go. This is necessary if you haven't used the recorder in the last 10 min. Sound quality is great! I leave mine set on the best (SHQ) mode, and am very happy with that. My batteries lasted for nearly a month, and that was with a lot of use. After installing new batts, I didn't have to totally reset the date, just the time. On older recorders I had to totally reset the date when installing new batts. I would advise people to write down the steps in the menu to do that (reset the time with new batts) rather than have to look it up.

This is a great little recorder. The thing I really enjoy about is the fact that it is super EASY to use and the buttons are large enough for my 72 year-old man hands. I use this next to the bed so I can remember the things I want to "write down" while falling to sleep or upon awaking. I'm happy with the Sony brand name also.

This device has awesome features but lacks one damn feature. No USB, no way to transfer the files onto a pc, I did the trick where a helper states you can re-record the audio. It comes out nice. Yeah, but guess what. The audio comes out mono. FYI, this device can record in stereo if you use a stereo device. I am extremely disappointed. This product should be discounted from being sold on amazon. I hate wasting my money on crap that does not work!! I have been trying to find a device that can do what this one does for a cheap price. I got very excited when I found this, but then shyt on by a missing feature. Please quit selling garbage to users on here. Sony messed up bad on this, like really bad. Why even sell a product when you can't even enjoy it on a pc to where you can enjoy your recordings?!

Ease of use with a clarity second to none.

no computer interface. do not buy (buy instead at Amazon: Concise digital voice recorder v9 64GB - see my 5 star review of it). I returned mine and bought the Concise instead.

It is small , functional , and exactly as the picture demonstrates. Highly recommend. It is very easy to use. 😊😊😊😊
