Excellent vacuum
I bought a Kenmore Elite from Sears in 2006 and it's been the best vacuum I've ever owned or used. It's lasted me these nearly 20 years with good care and the occasional repair, but while the suction is very good, it needs a new beater brush and I can't get parts for it anymore. So I was jazzed when I saw a positive review of this one and decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. It cleans really well and does a great job of lifting the carpet pile. My carpets feel fluffier under my feet. It's a solid bagged upright with good power, handy on-board attachments, and goes from carpet to bare floors with a simple thumb switch. I wish the hose was longer -- the one on my old Kenmore is twice as long -- but is a minor detriment. I see some people have complained about the length of the power cord, but I like that I can vacuum my whole house without having to unplug/replug, and a corded vacuum had much greater power than a cordless one. I highly recommend this vacuum.

Well worth the money.
What a great vacuum. And I have had many and many models. This works beyond well. And the process is simple and clean. Much better than Bagless. Better suction by far. OK, so you have a chord. Who cares. I won't be vacuuming during a power outage anyway.

Incredible Vacuum
I ordered this Kenmore vacuum as a replacement for a Shark that fell apart in less than a year. I have owned and wore out more than 10 vacuums in less than 8 years. Dyson, Bissell, Shark, Sanitaire, Electrolux, Simplicity, Miele, Sirena, and Kaercher (Karcher) but not a Kenmore til now. So I have a good deal of hands-on experience using and repairing them. I have found that the price and reliability of a vacuum are in no way related for most brands. The only exception has been Karcher that still runs like new with minor repairs. This Kenmore vacuum impressed me from the start. It has the best vacuum performance of any vacuum whether hard surface or plush carpet or area rugs. The beater bar is not overly aggressive but does an excellent job of vibrating dirt loose so it can be caught it. There is an extendable wand with crevice and upholstery tools which works great but with limited reach. The hose could be longer is my only complaint. Overall it performs better than any other I have owned except for Karcher but almost as good. Considering the price, performance, and build quality I think it is the best value around. You could pay a lot more and get a lot less. Also, the Kenmore is heavier than most and could be an issue if you have stairs to deal with. So you will want to take that into consideration.

Works Very Well!
We had previously owned a "Pet Vacuum" and it just didn't go a good job. So when it was time to replace our old one I did my due diligence and searched the internet for the best one I could afford. I read both good and bad reviews to get a feel for what people are saying about a product. A Dyson was out of the question due to price, so I was after the best value. Some of the negative comments regarded the fact that the Kenmore Elite was not self-propelled, it was somewhat heavy, the height adjustment wasn't automatic and the hose was too short. BUT, it worked very well. After looking over other brands and options, I bought the Kenmore Elite Upright 31150. I was not disappointed! Yes, you have to manually adjust the height. No big deal. I need to do that once when I vacuum as we have shorter nap rugs in one area of our home. I then start in that area the next time. It is not self-propelled, but that's okay because if you have the height adjusted correctly, it will gently pull itself forward. Most of us need more physical activity anyway! I know I do. The hose is short-ish, but works for most of what I need to do with it and there is a wand for extra reach. The wand extends nicely. There are a couple of handy attachments as well, especially the mini-brush that spins using the force of the suction. We have three cats, one of which is a long hair who leaves piles of fine hair everywhere and the Elite has no trouble getting those out of our short nap carpet. Suction power is outstanding and when using attachments actually needs to be managed with the airflow gate on the hose. Maneuverability is fine, but because it isn't propelled by anything other than the spinning brush, it does take a little more effort than a self-propelled model. It is not "light weight", but I don't care about that. Like I mentioned, I like the physical aspect of using the machine. Regarding comments that said the brushes wear out; What are these folks doing to make that happen??? Even when I have the height set lower than it should be (which you should realize immediately as the vacuum wants to pull fairly hard) I still cannot imagine wearing the brush out that fast. We've had this vacuum for some time and I've very happy with it. A blue light on the nose of the machine lights up when you activate the brush then goes out after about 5 seconds. It will come on again when you go over an area with extra debris. My wife thinks it's a gimmick, but I like it because it will make me go over that area slowly until the light extinguishes, ensuring it's clean. This is typically where the felines favorite resting spots are, or near the entries to the house or around the fireplace. The LED "headlights" work great as well and really light up dark areas under furniture or in corners. The vacuum does have a bag which I much prefer over the canister type vacuums as all dust, hair and dander is contained. There are also exhaust air filters. All of these work beautifully. I don't have any Cons on this one; I love it and would by it again.

Great, powerful vacuum, huge 1.5 gallon capacity!
This vacuum easily tops any other vacuum I have used (both commercial and residential). Very very very powerful, probably on par with my shop vacs for suction. It does a great job deep cleaning the carpet, has good edge cleaning too. The headlights are a nice touch. The dirt indicator is nice but I don't really care about it that much. It isn't as beefy or as repairable as the commercial units I have used, but is still better built than any shark I have used (I have used 4 thus far). The bag capacity has a typo on the amazon page. It claims 1.5 liters but when I measured the bag opening with my tape measure (from the lands, not the grooves) I got 390 in^3, which converts to 1.7 gallons. I think the opening is 1.7 gallons but the bag can actually "only" hold 1.5gal. That is significantly more than my old shark that was only 1/8th of a gallon. Not to mention, bagged vacs compress the dust and lint versus fluffing it up like a bagless unit. It is a bit bigger, so a bit less maneuverable and portable but I went into this purchase knowing that. The hose is a touch shorter than average, and the attachment set is decent, but nothing to write home about. I can't speak for longevity but I'm hoping this unit lasts me a while, it's definitely worth the money.

People who own this vacuum need to know; Do not be rough with the lever that you press down with your foot to make the vacuum lean back to vacuum. We would pull back on the vacuum while pressing down on the lever and the lever broke after a while and the vacuum would not stay sitting upright, we would have to lean it up against a wall. Also be gentle with the telescopic wand, that stopped working after a while and when you used it to clean it would not stay outstretched it would always collapse because the locking mechanism broke. This is the best vacuum I have ever owned for suction. Love that it has a bag and a hepa filter.

I replaced this vacuum with the same exact model that i bought about 6 years ago! It got beat up and i somehow broke the the pedal that keeps it upright, so i decided to look for a new Vacuum! I went to 5 different places that sell Vacuums and could not find a single one that uses bags, I hate the bagless ones as they are messy and do not like the look of the dirt in it and having to always wash filters , So after much research and shopping arround, I discovered that many of the Vacuums on the market are just cheaply made and a bad design! Maybe because i was used to this high quality product that i did not like anything else. So, I ordered the same one again as this Vacuum sounds and looks great, not too loud and very smooth sounding, you can tell it has a solid motor, also I never had to replace anything on my olde one, no belt and the bags last a very long time between changes! It is not good on stairs but I don't have stairs to worry about anyways so it is not a concern for me! Do yourself a favor and buy this Vacuum you will not be disappointed ! It makes your carpet look like new every time you vacuum!

Super heavy. Cord is annoying, for the weight you’d think it was heavy enough for a battery to already be installed. Would like a battery powered. Cleans excellent though and works well on pet hair as suggested. Would rate a 4 but would take cordless with the same performance to attain that.

Decent vacuum although the extension hose is ridiculously short. But Its back wheels leave black rubber skid marks all over the floor which have to be quickly wiped off with mop or wet cloth. Seems kind of ridiculous but they seem to have used such cheap soft plastic/rubber on the wheels that this. I previously had a cheap much inferior $60 kenmore upright that left no marks at all so this is a wheel material issue with this model (at least)

Seen someone rave on TikTok about this so since I been trying all sorts and haven’t yet to find a good vacuum I took the chance on this one, it is loud and sounds like a jet or something.. with the bag I can’t visualize how much it actually is sucking up, it is heavy and not good for stairs. I definitely don’t think it is as good as people have said I still prefer my cheap $180 vacuum over this one
