Accurate and quality built
The Wheeler Pro Sight seems to be very accurate. I have tried other bore sights in the past which were caliber specific and never had much luck with results. This sight is easy to use and the result were better excellent. Very good quality product. I got the green laser. I felt the green had some advantages over the red especially when bore sighting red dot scopes or anything with a red reticle. Here is how I found as the best way to use the bore sight: I have an area in my house with a long hallway and was able to set up a small portable table with clear line of sight at 16 yards. In reality if you can get the target and rifle about 25 yards that would be more ideal, but 16 yards was the best I could do indoors. The first optic I mounted was a Sig red dot. With the red dot turned off, I held the rifle in my normal comfortable shooting position and moved the optic along the Pic-rail until the eye relief was in a comfortable position. This went on a .40 pistol carbine. The second optic mounted was an ACOG non led 3.5X scope. This was going on a 308 AR10 style rifle. After both optic were secure on the rifles then I began the bore sighting process. First I did the red dot optic. 1) I placed the rifle in a cleaning rest ( any type of rest is good, the idea is to make the rifle stable so that you are free to use both hands). Make sure the rifle is totally unloaded and nothing in the chamber before proceeding. 2) I put some blue painters tape over the magnet just to provide a protective barrier between the barrel and the magnet. Mounting the bore-sight I found was easier to approach at an angle and ease it on the barrel. The magnet is super strong and I did not want to let it snap attached to the barrel. After it is in place the idea is to center the hole of the barrel about dead center of the magnet. Then I turned on the green laser. 3) The next step was to take the included reflective target and already having the rifle and green laser pointing at the wall, I used painters tape to attach the target to the wall so that the green laser was exactly on the bulls-eye. 4) Next, I turned on the red dot and made windage (right-left) and elevation (up-down) adjustments until my red dot was lined up with the green laser. A trick that helped me was to turn the red dot up in brightness to where it was slightly brighter than the green dot. This allows almost an eclipse effect to be seen when you get the two dots lined up. I think this is also an advantage to having the green bore sight vs the red. At this point the bore sighting is complete. 5) same process with the ACOG except you line up the reticle ad center to the green laser. Range results: (indoor range): This was a .40 pistol carbine and was a new rifle. I put the target at 25 yards and fired two shots (bench rested). The groups were within 1/2 inch so I was pleased with the grouping. POI on both shots were about 4 inches high and about 3 inches left of where I had the red-dot. This was very impressive to me to be more than just on paper at 25 yards. A few shots and adjustments later and I was ready to move out to 50 yards and complete the sighting in process. Non- Magnified red dots I only sight in to 50 yards especially with this just being a pistol carbine. Next up was the 308. This was a rifle that I already knew held very tight sub moa groups so I just lined it up and fired one shot but tried it at 50 yards and I was amazed to be on paper at 50 yards with the first shot. The shot was about 7 inches low and about 5 inches right but for bore sighting I was really impressed with how close this Wheeler pro got me. After some adjustments I was ready to move to 100yrds and completed the sight in process. Over all I am very impressed with this bore-sight. It is truly a multi-caliber bore sight and much more accurate than caliber specific sights that I used in the past which required plugs inserted into the barrel. Pros: Quality built Strong laser (green) accurate Easy to use Cons: Price higher than others but more accurate and well built Wish the laser brightness could be dimmed when using indoors but this is a picky complaint.

Works great where other laser bore-sight devices failed - e.g. short-barrel pistols
This is GREAT to use for short-barrel pistols, such as compacts and pocket pistols, where the barrel is too short for some other laser bore-sights. I have one of those laser bore-sights where there is a stem that goes down the barrel, and it has swappable end pieces so it stays centered in the barrel. But, that device is too long for use on a short-barrel pistol like a compact or smaller. On those pistols, that bore-sight stem extends thru the barrel into the chamber so that end is not seated / supported in the barrel, or the bore-sight stem can't go in all the way so that neither end is properly seated / supported in the barrel. Either way, you don't get proper laser alignment with the barrel centerline. I have some other laser bore-sights that look like laser ammo, and so it fits into the chamber rather than the barrel. But, I've had problems with the quality of the laser alignment (on two different brands of these devices) such that I can change the laser POI by rotating the laser ammo in the chamber. They get me close, but I have to do multiple sightings with rotating the laser and averaging the differing POIs. When discussing these challenges with the armorer at my local gun shop, they recommended THIS SPECIFIC device. THIS device solves those problems. Since this attaches to the MUZZLE, the length of barrel is irrelevant to this device's function. And, I've experimented with rotating the device and verifying that the laser POI remains consistent vs my POA, so I trust the factory laser alignment. Using this to pre-adjust my sights, BEFORE I confirm it with real shots on targets, greatly reduces the amount of expensive ammo I have to use to get the sights finally dialed in. So far, the laser sighting has been accurate and I've found that the main difference between laser POI vs ammo POI is my own shooting skills (e.g. trigger control & grip). Use is EXTREMELY simple - install the battery, stick it to the front of your muzzle, make sure it's roughly centered over the muzzle (while still being able to use the sights / optics you're trying to verify), and turn on the power button. The magnet is strong and the device is held firm & stable on the end of the muzzle. I have concerns that SOME pistols have a barrel muzzle that is slightly recessed from the front of the slide and/or frame (i.e. THIS device would be attached to the front of the slide instead of the end of the barrel), and where the front of the slide (or frame) might not be perfectly aligned with the barrel (e.g. not parallel to the plain of the muzzle or perpendicular to the barrel centerline), and so that might throw off the alignment of this device wrt the barrel centerline. This is where those OTHER devices might be better since they are seated in the barrel or chamber. So, I'm not yet ready to sell my other used laser bore-sight devices. They each have different advantages and disadvantages, and so each is still useful on different firearms. I like that there is a power button so I can turn the laser on/off without having to pull & replace the battery. This helps save battery life when going back and forth between adjusting the sights (e.g. via a slide mounted in a sight pusher) and checking sight POA vs laser POI. So far, the battery life seems to be OK. I received the green laser, which I hear burns through battery life faster than red, but the battery life hasn't been an issue. So far, I've had it ON for less than 20 minutes total (taking care to turn it off when not in use) without any battery issues. I received the GREEN laser, and the brightness seems fine while sighting to 20 yards indoor against a simple semi-gloss painted wall. I haven't yet tried it at longer distances in sunlight against rough low-reflection surfaces. Wheeler includes a retro-reflective target to use in those situations. Overall, I'm happy with the price & purchase. This is solving problems where other laser bore-sight devices failed or were problematic.

Good product but
Good product and easy to use. I put packaging tape on the magnet so it didnt mar the finish on the gun. That tape is tough and will last through several alignments before needing replaced. The laser itself will get you on the paper at 50 yards but take off your flash suppressor so the unit can mount to the end of your barrel. The suppressor is not perfectly machined but the end of the barrel is so this affects your accuracy of just where your laser is pointed. None of this is in the instructions. You can easily see the laser at 30 yards on a white background with no direct sunlight. My unit came with a dead battery. I found that if its less than 2.7 volts it wont work. 123 batteries are a little pricey and not available everywhere. Walmart claimed to carry them but had none in stock. Home Depot did. Once I changed the battery the unit worked fine. All in all this product works. The price is higher than most but you dont need all the adapters to work with different calibers so setup is easy. It will save you ammo but dont expect to be sighted in with less than 5 shots at 50 yards. You will have to resight at 100. This also will not work with pistols. Too bulky and will get in the way of your sight and block your view.

perfect for compact pistols
I could not use the cartridge style bore sighters because my pistol's barrel is a bit too short - these devices were inaccurate when trying to zero. The Wheeler Laser Bore Sighter is fantastic and worth the extra money. It is easy to use and will work with any caliber firearm. It attaches to the end of the barrel by a magnet. Just what I was looking for.

The Best
Every now and then I encounter a product that just works, and solves a problem, and this is one of those. The cartridge-shaped bore sighters, when they fit in the chamber, need to be used in low light, and will go through a set of those little button batteries is just a few minutes, often before I can get the sights fully adjusted. The ones with the shafts that are inserted into the barrels can be a pain to get accurately centered, and are still not very bright. These are held on to the end of the barrel with the integral magnet - strong enough to hold securely, yet easy to remove. Works with both handguns and long guns. The end of the barrel or muzzle device does need to be perpendicular to the bore, though, so this may not be the solution for your AK. Also, the barrel end or muzzle device should be ferrous. However, I have seen this used with a plastic MCK housing by holding the sighter flush against the end. Powered by a CR123A battery, they are bright, and give a very long working time. Several people have used mine to work with multiple weapons, and the battery is still going strong. The unit comes with a nice little reflector that gives very good visibility, even on bright days. At first I was worried about the lack of a bore centering pin, but one really isn't needed. Just center the sighter roughly by eye, then adjust the sights to get the correct overlay at the desired distance. You should be "on the paper", and final sight alignment shouldn't take more than 4 or 5 shots. Yes, this unit is a lot more expensive than the common alternatives. But the reduced expense of batteries and ammo, and the savings in time and frustration, should make this one of those purchases that I feel good about for years.

Excellent tool for sightin in rifles!
This is the BEST bore sighting tool on the market. Works awesome and very low priced. My local FFL had one and told me about it. So I had to get one. It has been used to sight in several rifles. It is very easy to use and reduces the time required to sight a rifle in, and it saves you lots of ammo and time! I love it.

Went green after seeing red and happy I did
Bought this to replace a red laser that was destroyed by the muzzle of a .308. I was reluctant to spend the money on a "green" laser. That reluctance ended the first time I used it. The day and night visibility is SUBSTANTIALLY better that a red laser. Personally, I will.never use red again. Easy to use and quality of what Wheeler is known for. Battery life is not quite as good as the red , but that's par for the course with any green laser. Easy to use and works on anything a magnet will stick to.
