Followed by 3.) a quote from the designer and photos of their work on the catwalk. This book was rather disappointing as I thought it would be a construction based book. It does have some construction information and a section talking about fabrics in there but nothing substantial. It seems the majority of the book is telling how important paying attention to construction details is for great fashion design. It's a shame it doesn't show you how to achieve good construction and the construction information that is included is laughable and downright disappointing. How the process of sewing influence's the design process is the basis of this book and the title should have reflected its purpose.I really hope this is not a required textbook for design school as this book is not a long term shelf life book that will assist someone in the design field, or with actual sewing. IMHO this is one of those meaningless books you are forced to buy while in school that does not have any real value. You wouldn't be able to put together a garment from this book and few people need an entire book dedicated to letting them know how important construction is to fashion design. If you lack in construction knowledge you can't properly relay or create your designs!!!!! For me at a price of $30.00 this book is not worth it. Please visit your local library before adding it to your collection.
