Impressive Grill at modest cost
I don't normally write reviews for products, but was compelled to write about the Monument Grill because I am so pleased. Firstly in response to many of the reviewers; some complained about the assembly and I was prepared for a lengthy exercise, but including unpacking the parts, I was done in 50 minutes. The carton and packaging are surprisingly excellent, and I believe it would take some real abuse to render any sort of damage enroute. Also for those who are wondering, most of the firebox is preassembled and it is mainly the pedestal/propane compartment that is flat shipped. The directions were excellent and I was particularly impressed by the precision/accuracy of all the parts, there was no bending or manhandling to get things to align. Everything fits and works as it should. The stainless comprises the doors, firebox cover, and side shelves. It seems to be well fabricated and flawless brushed finish. The sides and bottom of the compartment are painted grey but seem to be a high quality finish. Some complained that the wheels are plastic, but I love that they won't corrode and have easy to operate parking brake. The fire box itself is heat resistant coating like the inside of your oven, so easy to clean. The window and thermometer are a great idea. I like the fact that there are 3 separate grates inside, so if you cook on only one area, you only need to clean the one grate, leaving the others behind, just more convenient really. the drip tray is fully stainless steel and easy to remove and cleans up very easily. I have used the grill for a few weeks now and find the heat controls very accurate, easy to maintain a temperature without annoying hot spots. I live in the caribbean with high humidity and salty corrosive air, and bought a cheap cover from Amazon, and is essential to keeping the rust stains at bay, and very pleased so far. It is not a 3 thousand dollar grill and doesn't pretend to be, but in my opinion a great value compared to some other grilles I have seen and used. Some complained that the Monument badge is mounted crooked on the lid, and mine is no exception, and maybe there is a reason for it, but I could care less, the grille works flawlessly, has many great features and looks snappy as well.

QUALITY LIKE A HAVE NOT SEEN IN A LONG TIME.
We have this grill at our winter home in Florida. When we are not here, AB&B renters give it a workout. Over the past 20 years I go thru a grill every 2-3 years. Same with the patio furniture. I have owned many models of Char-Broil but recently they have made the steel very thin and the units are junk. For a low end price, this grill is impressive. The carton packing was amazing, every piece was plastic wrapped and Styrofoam to hold the grill tight in the box. The assembly instructions were clear with diagrams, as if they were prepared in the USA, maybe they were? THERE ARE ONLY 23 SCREWS to assemble because most are already in the frame, just back them out, add the panel and retighten. In one hour, my wife and I assembled this gem, it was like all the manufacturing drawings were done in 3D (solid works), and cut on a CNC, everything lined up, what a different experience! They even gave us some extra hardware. Nice big roll around/lockable casters on bottom. Very heavy gauge stainless steel where it counts, a slide out grease tray and catch cup. Very large Stainless Steel burners with an 8 year warranty (unheard of). See through glass window in the lid, with large thermometer. The only suggestion that would help with assembly A LITTLE, is to put A,B,C stickers on the pieces, that would help, but you can just follow the assembly diagram. So, you get it, I love this grill. Will review again in 1 year and tell you how it does in Florida humidity.

Good overall
Good overall. As follows: — PROS: • Cannot beat it for the price. • Cooks excellently. • Plenty of power. This thing can get up to 700+ °F in a jiffy, no problem. Good for cooking and also for cleaning by burning off. • Burners and innards seem safe, well-designed, and well-QCd, which is a sine qua non. • Design is mostly very good. — CONS: • Assembly is straightforward ENOUGH, but lower your expectations going in — if you are a typical end-user in a residential environment, plan on taking 2 hours or more to assemble it. If you don't expect quicker, then you won't be disappointed. The instruction booklet is a 75-page novel, but at least only the first 25 pages are for English-language users. • The amount of cardboard in the packaging is epic and reasonable. (After all, they need to protect the thing adequately in transit, so you don't return it for damage.) On the other hand, the amount of STYROFOAM in the packaging is gargantuan and probably inexcusable. Plan on filling your ENTIRE recycling bin with cardboard, and plan on filling a GIANT contractor-grade heavy-duty trash bag with broken-up STYROFOAM to send to the landfill, and vacuuming up scores of little staticky styrofoam nuggets. Hopefully the manufacturer will switch to molded paper/cardboard instead, in future. Personally I would pay another 10 or 20 bucks on the product if it could mean eliminating the MOUNTAIN of styrofoam from the packaging. But I guess a lot of other customers are more psychopathic than that, so who knows whether it will change. • The top half (the grill proper) is well designed and feels premium. The bottom half (cabinet/stand) is *adequately* designed and feels chintzy — viable, but minimum-viable. • The caster wheels are tiny silly indoor-grade units misplaced on an outdoor product. Maybe I will swap them out so I can actually put my grill (an outdoor object) on the grass without them sinking into the ground. • The cabinet is backless, which is the stupidest design flaw that I have detected so far; but it might be true that many of the competing products are also backless, I don't know. A backless cabinet is moronic because a grill is an outdoor object that is going to sit in your backyard at night, and the drippings pan is just sitting there in the wide open for any possums, racoons, skunks, or black bears that might happen to smell it and decide to mess with it. And maybe chew on the rubber propane hose too, while they're in there anyway. Having little doors on the front of the cabinet is laughably pointless and irrational when the back is wide open. I have some old sheet metal shelving that I'll be propping against the back with a sandbag, so at least I can TRY to keep the night critters out of the meat-juice-scented cabinet. The cabinet was clearly designed for cheapness and for false-front appearances as judged by indoorsy-only, not-very-bright customers. Oh well. Must keep in mind that if the cabinet was premium then the upfront price of the overall product would easily be 30% higher or more. — Overall I cannot complain, because (1) you get what you pay for in life, (2) the grill seems safe and effective, and (3) the competing products in the same price bracket are probably not better. Go for it.
