Glimmer Hot Foil System - New & Improved - GLS-005 - Platinum

Last Christmas I received a Spellbinders Better Press to use with my "Big Shot." It makes beautiful, embossed cards. Recently I had seen someone use the Better Press plates with the Spellbinders Glimmer attachment and the results were not just professional, but breath takingly beautiful. (I know I have used the adjective beautiful twice--but they really are!) Before purchasing, I watched several YouTube videos. I was still a bit nervous about using it, but every single product has turned out perfectly on the first try. I purchased it several weeks ago, and have already had card making friends come over to try it out. Every person who has used it has loved the results. The Glimmer comes with a silicone mat, the heater and tray, an ingenious magnet holder to remove the hot plates, one decorative plate and one sentiment as well as a multi-colored and a gold roll of paper. Using this product will enable you to make personalized cards that are so much nicer than anything you can buy. It was well worth the price.

Love using this machine to foil. It works so well. Little learning curve, but I think that’s to be expected. FYI - It does not come with tweezers. I have a Big Shot and it works with it. No need to buy another die cutting machine.

I've been using this unit for a couple of months now. I've used the foil that came with it as well as some budget foil I bought on amazon. First off, this is just the coolest little machine! The foiling (when it works, but more on that soon) is beautiful and just amazingly "pro" looking. I'm making cards for Christmas and have done about 30 foiled cards so far. The Spellbinders brand foil is perfect and I haven't had a single one turn out spotty. The discount foil... Well, it's a bummer, but it definitely is not as good or consistent. In fact, it has been so spotty that I ended up keeping the plastic foil cover on several of the plates I did. I just slid some glue in between the foil plastic cover and card and stuck them together. That way you end up with a fully foiled item. Anyhow, it's something to consider when you go for the massive discount foil bundle, which I certainly did. If you are hesitating to get this item, I'd say go for it. It made a huge difference in the cards I'm making and it's pretty hard to resist foiling everything.

There is a slight learning curve but well worth the time and effort. Fun and adds so much to cards.

i watched a lot of you tube abt this Spellbinder Glimmer Hot foil Machine before deciding to dive on it and what I can say is no regrets at all. It is amazing . Love it

Pretty machine. Works as described, I suppose… However, you need to watch a lot of videos to learn how to use it. And even then it’s not 100%. Every die machine has different tension. Figuring out what to shim, how much to shim, when not to shim, for every different type of paper, die, plate, foil, etc. is a lot more work than I anticipated pouring into something so expensive. Expensive should be easier, not harder. The temperature in my home also changes results as the plates don’t heat up enough if it’s cold. Plus buying more plates is an added expense. Adhesive, paste, or toner with foil might be cheaper and less finicky.

Just playing around with it, haven’t made anything to show yet, but this is so much fun! Works great!
