Works really well
I have AT&T Uverse. I used an open ethernet port on my router for the MagicJack so I can use it even when the computer is turned off. Call quality is good. I have a wireless base jacked into the MJ and I can make and receive calls all over the house. 911 registration for my city was an additional $3. I have had no problems either setting it up, initiating service, or making calls. I think the direct-to-router hookup might be the best, and having a notch or two above the basic internet speed. I am not a technical whiz, but I'm very happy with my cheap, cheap phone service.

Not as good as I hoped
I bought this in order to supplement our cell phones when at home due to spotty cell coverage at our house. It works, but for some reason the calls come in and out. There's no way it can be my router or networking equipment because I'm able to constantly stream HD movies from Netflix, Amazon, iTunes, YouTube, etc. via the same exact router and switch with no problems at all. Every time this thing drops a call, nothing else connected to the same switch even experiences a blip, therefore it must be the Magicjack. Perhaps the Magicjack doesn't play well with thr brand of router/switch/modem I have, but for whatever reason, it certainly doesn't work as good as it's supposed to and thus we still use our cell phones despite the low signal strength. Furthermore, we can make use FaceTime on our iPhones and computers with no issues at all, including just FaceTime audio calls. So if Apple products can make clear, unbroken connections over the same networking equipment, why cant Magicjack? It may work flawlessly for some people, but based on my experience, it's just not reliable enough to use regularly.

Total disgrace
extremely disappointing. Item never worked. Spent over six hours on the phone at various times with magic jack to fix it, no result except total anger. I am an electronics expert and if I tell you a unit is defective, it is defective. No need to go over and over and over the same proceedures to fix what can not be fixed. And them they totally insult me to go with it. They said I am not willing to trouble shot the item? Six times the same bull I went through and then they want me to do it again. No way in hell. Times up. I returned the unit to you because they refused to take it back or send me another one because " you refuse to trouble shot the unit." Over six times the same bull, took over six hours, about one hour each time you do it, and I refused to trouble shoot the unit! What I refuse is to be taken for a fool.

Magic Jack Plus Fine So Far
I have had this for about 2 weeks so far and it is fine for the money I guess, although I'd rather have my ObI110 any day. I bought this because there was no other company that could compare to the way Google worked with it, they were all too expensive for me :) I guess that shows how spoiled I am by using the OBI for so long without a glitch at all! The Magic Jack cut me off in 90 minutes the first time I used it..... A recording came on and said "all circuits are busy, please call again later" that was irritating. I am also used to talking as long as I want to without cut offs that surprised me. I have been cut off several time since then also. The item was super easy to install however, just hoping it will last long enough to get back what I paid for the unit . I do have a question for any one out there that has one. I hooked it up to my router and it seems to feel so hot to the touch. I don't remember that happening when it was plugged in to the computer directly. Has anyone else noticed that? Thanks for any response .

It wasn't hard to set up and works great!
It works great and was not hard to set up at all. Im not computer savvy and I did it with no trouble at all. Im really not sure how you could screw it up if you follow the simple directions and give it time to load. It did take a little while for each step to finish so patience is essential. Im glad I ignored the reviews and bought it anyway.

Magicjack Plus has saved me a lot of money
I bought the Magicjack Plus so I could transfer over my home number and cut the connection from Verizon. It has worked flawlessly from the beginning. I especially like that my phone messages are forwarded to my email, allowing me to hear the messages right away.
