I ordered this to sharpen my small hatchet. I've never sharpened an ax or hatchet before. I submerged the stone for about 3-4 minutes then followed the instructions. It was easy and absolutely did the job! Now, as I go out camping, I will always have a sharp hatchet to splinter wood at the campsites. It seems durable, and well made, and it's small and portable. I highly recommend this stone.

I bought a diamond coated steel plate from sharpal and had no luck at all. This on other hand sharpened every knife I have included my hatchet that now shaves my arm. It's made of corrundom which is one of the hardest stones on earth that includes sapphires and rubys in its family. Buy this stone and you'll love it for all your sharpening needs and it's only $15. Comes with nice leather case that goes right on my belt. You won't go wrong purchasing this wet stone I promise. I used circular motion to sharpen all my knives and hatchet and axe. I have been told that there's better stones. With that said I got this one for my camp box. I have touched up the edge on a camp axe and knife. It worked quick and it came with a nice leather case that protects it. Just what I was looking for.

Handy little blade sharpener. Picked this up for our throwing axes. Use it after every 2nd to 3rd session with them to keep them sharp. The little case is convenient and the finger protectors are a finger saver!
