Mercury Fuel Filter Water separating fuel filter

Great buy for a maintenance item on your outboard engine. It’s OEM and much cheaper here than at your local marine store. I like to keep one on hand, because with todays gasoline it’s just a matter of when you will need one.

1995 Mercury XRi 150 HP, exactly the fuel/water filter separator I needed. Ordered others and they weeebtoo large. Only thing I had to do was reuse the original sensor that threads into the bottom since this newer style has a slightly different tip on it and the plug doesn’t clip onto it like it should.MAKE SURE TO RELIEVE FUEL PRESSURE before unscrewing lol.

Changed the fuel filter on my 2011 Mercury Pro Xs 175 hp. Didn’t need to remove lower cowling. Used a car jawed filter wrench to remove carefully and in increments. When I put the new one on I got it finger tight then I used a 2” wide piece of nylon webbing and duct taped the end on the filter. I then wrapped the webbing around the filter and pulling and held the duct tape down at the same time. I got it on tight.I just hope I remember how I did it this time, I’m getting old.....
