Product Description For the first time ever, the world of BIONICLE(R) comes to life in an epic motion picture event -- BIONICLE(R): MASK OF LIGHT! Experience the action-packed adventure that has enthralled millions of fans. Discover the latest chapter in this legendary story in an all-new CGI animated movie. It's nonstop action as Jaller and his best friend Takua set off on their journey to find the 7th Toa, a mysterious guardian who will help protect their island home. With the guidance of the Mask of Light and the united strengths of the other six Toa, the brave companions must overcome the powerful Makuta and his menacing Rahkshi. They must prevail or the island of Mata Nui will be doomed to an eternity of darkness! desertcart.com Lego's Bionicle line has sprouted this complicated but impressive family movie, Bionicle: Mask of Light, to bolster the toys' mythic appeal. The story focuses on the robotic Matoran tribe from the island of Mata Nui, which is protected by six powerful guardians known as the Toa. Two small Matorans--one a potentially heroic "herald" and the other a historian-witness called "chronicler"--find a sacred mask of light, suggesting the imminent of arrival of a seventh Toa. Identifying that mystery figure proves difficult, however, especially with the evil spirit of shadows, Makuta, attacking Matorans with mechanized-crayfish warriors in a bid to possess the precious mask. This is the kind of out-of-nowhere, dense fantasy that requires one to get up to speed quickly on a lot of exotic detail, terms, history, etc. But Mask of Light is also enjoyable as expressive, CGI animation with thoughtful art design, striking color, and excellent vocal performances. --Tom Keogh Review: Bionicle - Favorite movie of my son so I bought it Review: The quality of the movie was great will buy more - Great movie recieved the movie on timethe quality

lives up to the lego name
I have to admit that I had reservations about this dvd...an entire world based on lego's? But it does live up to the lego name. My son watched it twice last night and sat there almost quietly (a small miracle for an 8yr old!) for both times. Admittedly he had to explain what was going on to me...since I'm not familiar at all with the whole "bionicle world" I had no clue. It's rated PG for a reason...there ARE some darker images...a character who sacrifices himself and the whole good vs evil concept is shown in truly dark graphic ways. But if your child is old enough to play with the small sized lego's then they shouldn't have a problem with watching the dvd. There are a lot of extra's...an entire map of the "bionicle world", descriptions of all the baddies and what horrible things they can do to you, the making of featurette and some information on the next installment. The animation reminds me of Toy Story...maybe not quite as "believable" but we are talking about an entirely created world with no humans whatsoever. All in all it's a very enjoyable dvd and if your little ones are legomaniacs like mine then it's a definite must have!

A piece of nostalgia
Bought this for my sons, who are in their mid 20s. They have loved this movie since it's released, somehow the original DVD went missing over the years. A great movie with a cute story line based on an awesome line of Lego sets.

It's about time!!!
It's about time!!! Lego finally smartened up and made a movie! How it begins is Takua finds the Mask of Light, The Rahkshi are released. Jaller is chosen to find Takanuva. the Rahkshi are trying to find the Mask of Light. And well, you can figure it out from there. And, I also have good news, 2 more Bionicle movies are going to be released between now and 2005. So, This movie isn't the end. I also heard this movie is rated PG for violence and Scary images, So YAY, This isn't going to be a little kid movie. This movie mostly focuses more on the Matoran then Toa. I hope this movie is worth my while.

I have always had a soft spot for this film, and watching it again after many years did not disappoint. It's my personal favourite of the four Bionicle films, and it gets the balance of a good film just about right. The characters are engaging and lively, and the locations of Mata Nui are absolutely beautiful. The storyline is strong, with parallel plots (the quest for the eponymous Mask, the appearance of the sinister Rahkshi, and the Toa's search for their unity) that keep it interesting. The climax of the story is a little disappointing, but only a little, and it's done so dramatically and enthusiastically that you hardly notice. Nathan Furst's musical score is great, with echoes of John Williams and Howard Shore, and the animation really brings the characters and world of Bionicle to life. Great effort from the producers, animators and performers, and what this film really has that I think the others lack somewhat is heart, a love for Bionicle that depends on good characters and good plots rather than just flashy weapons or cool-looking tricks. One of my favourite films - love it.
