Great Device!
This ethernet network adapter works very well for my Chromebook. Since it adapts to a USB 3.0 interface, it is able to take advantage of the increased speeds USB 3.0 has to offer. It has the capacity to work with internet speeds up to 1000mbps. In the 8 months I have owned this device, I have never experienced any problems with it. This device is simple to use: plug the ethernet cord into it, plug the USB end into the computer, and start browsing. If you are using a Windows or Chromebook computer, there are no additional steps required. I have not tested this on a Linux or Mac computer. The device is powered by the USB port as well, which means that an external power source is not required. I have tested the speed this ethernet adapter provides and have compared it to my desktop computer, and the speeds are identical. In my tests, the maximum download speed my service provider provides is 25mbps, so I have not tested the upper limits of the device. However, I suspect that the device will work well on those upper speeds. The device itself is solid in its construction. I carry it in my book bag, and as the contents shift and settle, this device ends up at the bottom, below books, other devices, and other wires. It stands up under all of that pressure without breaking or even bending. Many newer tablets and laptops ship without an ethernet port (to reduce the size of the device, in most cases). This is the perfect tool to have to compensate. Simply carry this around in a book bag or suitcase, and you will be able to use an ethernet cable wherever one may be. Overall, I would recommend this device to anyone who needs an ethernet to USB 3.0 adapter.

All working now after replacement =D
Update 2: Just received a replacement from Cable Matters, and as expected, Windows 10 recognized the device instantly without needing to install driver manually, on USB 3.0 ports!! Good speed and reliable connection after 2-hour gaming/streaming! The first adapter should have worked the first time but I'm giving it a five star for the company's fast response and easy resolution. They included prepaid envelop for me to drop off and return the original adapter to them. The first adapter must have been defective. So anyone having issue with this adapter working on USB 3.0 ports should try getting into contact with Cable Matters. They can probably take care of you very well =) Update: after reading reviews for another product on Amazon, I found people are having issues with USB 3.0 ports. So I tried this adapter on a USB 2.0 port, and boom it worked, even without manually installing drivers as Windows 10 recognized the device and downloaded driver by itself! However, I bought this cable for my laptop, which does not have a USB 2.0 port. If anyone successfully used this adapter on a USB 3.0 port in Windows 10, please let me know. Much appreciation! I don't know how other people can get this thing (UBS 3.0 Version) connected to their computers. There should be no driver needed for Windows 10, because the Windows was able to detect the driver and install them automatically. Even so, after it failed to work that way, I had hope that maybe using a driver directly from the ASIX website, magic will happen. It turns out magic rarely happens. Tried the latest standalone driver as well as the driver installer directly from ASIX, Windows 10 is still giving hardware malfunction notice. Specifically, I've attached the error message to this review as screenshots. First one is the pop-up notification, the second one was the window that gives more info after you click the error message in the notification center. I tried this adapter across various Windows 10 machines and it failed to work on all alike. I suspect a defective hardware. Bummer. I was getting this adapter in a rush to get a project done, but now I'll have to wait for another couple days.

Work's on 2021 LG C1 but.... Doesn't work on PS5.
I can confirm this product work's with the 2021 LG C1 TV. However my TV only has USB 2.0 and I only have a download max speed from my ISP that averages around 100Mbps. The USB 3.0 (USB-A to RJ45) Adapter requires no software installation of any kind. It's simply plug-in-play. After my initial speed tests for my personal gains this product was not any different for me personally to keep due to the 2021 LG C1 TV only has a USB 2.0 port and does not increase the speed's of my internet to my TV than the built-in Ethernet port on the back of the TV. Sony has a new TV that support's USB 3.0. • If you have a Gigabit Internet Speed and have USB 3.0 and above this product is a must have. • If you own a laptop that doesn't have a Ethernet port this product is for you. • If you have Gigabit Internet Speeds and 100 Mbps Ethernet port on your computer and have USB 3.0 and USB-A port this product is for you. Overall a great product to have if it benefits you personally. My only personal grips would be the very short cable. It needs to be a few more inches longer. Maybe 2 to 3 inches longer. Also to note: This device doesn't work with the PlayStation 5. I just had to try out since it was there to test. Would rate the product higher if the cable was longer.

Works without issue.
Got to enable my Sony 4K TV to use ethernet at > 100Mb/s which is as high as the TV's internal WiFi goes - not quite enough for some of the 4K formats. This works perfectly, no issues.

A Simple Fix for Slow TV Ethernet Ports
These Cable Matters USB‑to‑Ethernet adapters work flawlessly. I use them to bypass the 100 Mbps limitation of the built‑in Ethernet ports on my TVs, and the difference is immediate. By connecting through USB, I can finally take full advantage of the internet speed I actually pay for. Fast, stable, and extremely practical.

Go Cheap, All USB Ethernet Cables Will Eventually Fail
This USB Ethernet adapter gets slightly barely warm within seemingly one spot, definitely not hot or wasting energy. The USB-3 cable is very thin, and I do not expect the cable to last long with little stress; while all other USB-3 USB Ethernet adapters also failing with thicker or larger diameter wires/cables. Changed my game plan, just buying cheap USB Ethernet adapters, as the cables will eventually fail, regardless of caring for the cable. The Cable Matters USB Ethernet 10/100/1000 adapter is made in China, while the 10/100 version is made in Thailand. A Basic Fallback
I bought this [USB 3.0 Type C] and a Cable Matters dongle [w USB 3.0 Type A] because I needed a RJ45 plug for a wired connection to the internet [the WiFi signal was thought to be questionable and none of my laptops had a RJ45 plug]. Both were Plug 'n Play. But I've just put them both "through the paces" on my Chromebook using a 50-ft CAT 5 cable to my xFinity Gateway [1Gpbs]. Here are the SpeedTest.net results: This One: DL 130 Mbps; UL 33 Mbps; a nameless alternative labeled "X0039O1MOD" USB 3.0 HUB+RJ45:DL 240 Mbps; UL 40 Mbps. The Chromebook has only one USB-c port and it's the one used for the power cord; so, if you need to use the nameless "USB HUb w RJ45" dongle for a long time, it may not be an option. But the Cable Matters can reside on the USB-A port full-time. Note: the combined power available of the 3 USB 3.0 ports on the nameless dongle is a measly 0.9 amps.
