Does what it says. Great quality and does the job

Wanted to use it for splitting bigger logs for my woodburner, but the wouldn’t split and just got stuck on the device. So I use it now only for making kindling and can only do that by hitting a narrow part of the log and working along only the edges of logs and never the centre as you can’t break through the thicker part of a log. Certainly doesn’t work as shown on the promotional video.

We live in the Hebrides and burn a peat fire but need plenty of kindling to get the fire started. This device makes chopping logs for kindling so much easier, quicker and safer. I enjoy using it so much that I find I can’t stop using it. Some hardwood logs still require a good hard bash, but it works. Since it’s cast iron, you wouldn’t want to hit it with your mallet, otherwise it looks like it will last. I’ve no connection to the company and didn’t receive any incentive to give a good review. Just a satisfied customer. 😊

I could not be without this as it makes life so much easier and making my own kindling has never been simpler. I have used an old axe head as a splitter for many many years so felt a bit of a wuss when considering this. I still use my faithful splitter when out in the woods or in our campervan but for my home fires and firepit, this tools is a must and i could not recommend it enough - get one, they are brilliant!!

Fantastic tool, much easier and safer than using an axe. Less energy needed to split logs.
