Wish I had read the reviews about the cap. Opened it once to use. Didn’t pay any attention to the cap. Closed it tight and put it in the cabinet. Returned 4 months later and all bare metal in cabinet had surface rust due to escaping gas due to cap seal had failed.

Using this with barium chloride to test my stash of potassium nitrate and potassium sulfate. Container labels are gone with the wind. Bottle itself is impressively packed. Sealed plastic bag inside another sealed plastic bag, inside a box stuffed with those big rice puffs. I like effective leak protection for a chemical product.

It is real hcl. If you wait too long to use it , it will eat through the bottle, through the bag, through the box. Make sure you use this promptly and transfer to a safe container or neutralize with lots of baking soda. It took me about 9 cups.

I ordered this Hydrochloric acid and kept it around in my lab for a while - after a few months I noticed it had turned brown - apparently the cap seal had dissolved into the hydrochloric acid, contaminating it. This may be a minor concern for many projects, but in my case we couldn't have contaminants in our hydrochloric acid for this particular experiment, so we had to order more from a different supplier.
