My husband is type 2 diabetic so I use Xylitol instead of sugar when I bake so he doesn't miss out too much on the cakes and biscuits. He also uses in his hot drinks instead of sugar. There is no aftertaste like you get when using saccharin.

I am now fully converted to only using Xylitol, having given up sugar. Coming from the bark of birch trees there is nothing artificial about it and is good for the teeth as evidenced by my no longer getting cavities. My only gripe is that it is expensive and I have to order it specially.

Cheapest way to buy Xylitol. As a diabetic with a sweet tooth, I can enjoy this guilt free - entirely natural with zero sugar content, and it's the closest thing in sweetness and texture to normal sugar. I use it everywhere I would use sugar, on my breakfast, in baking, and I just made some great elderflower cordial with it - something not possible with any other sweetener I've tried. It has a very slightly cooling effect on the tongue, but no nasty aftertastes like stevia leaf, no horrid impact on your body like aspartame. It can have a laxative effect apparently if you eat too much, but it hasn't affected me in that way.

Been using xylitol for nearly 2 years now, use in place of sugar. I follow a LCHF way of eating. Xylitol does not have the after taste that I find in other non sugar cane products.
