The disks work wonderfully!
After the #3000 disk, I buff the agate stones with 14,000 diamond paste. But as you can see by the photo and video, I cut and shape my stones exclusively with these discs. I've heard many people disparage these disks and others because they come from China-- but when I notice the company that I bought the flat lap from, they resell Chinese products too --at the same time they disparage Chinese products. I'm American, I've tried the most expensive discs and I've used these for about 15 projects. These flat lap disks are not just satisfactory, I shape my stones down to less than 1 mm -at least the guitar picks exclusively with these disks. The discs work as they are intended to. And if you don't have a good grip, I don't recommend you get the 60# that's so rough it'll tear the stone right out of your hand if you don't have a good grip. These are great discs that work well. When I look at the wear after so many projects and grinding stones down to less than a millimeter there's no significant wear and tear on them either. I thought that they would wear out quickly because of the price point. They do not--and I don't take it easy on those discs either. I provided a picture of the 80# grit disc that does most of the grinding for 5 guitar picks ands 6 other projects. There's only one small criticism that I have --the labels don't stay on very well so the grit number is hard to identify. So when you get the disk with a sharpie write the grit number on the back of the disk.

good enough for the hobbyist
Does the job, and the price is good, but the metal is soft, which takes 'dings' easily, and uneven, which makes the lap vibrate. update: the "soft" metal is probably a design decision, and the unevenness eventually gets worked out when you've spent some time and gotten the lap "broken-in". I'm giving back the star, they're decent topper laps, and quite good for the price!

These are not as advertised
These laps are either mislabeled or they're trying to scam you. The 800 and 1500 leave a surface indistinguishable from the 400 and I'll have to treat them as such. The 3,000 leaves a rougher surface than my current 1200. Either they mislabeled these or they're such a poor quality control that there's mixed grits in the surface. I've been fastening for almost 20 years

this is a good deal for three discs, but I needed a disc that was finer not as rough, the discs looked to be well made

Fine at first
At first, these were great! Especially the 80 grit. However, after about 3 hours of using the 3000 grit a couple pieces of diamond, or steel with a bit of diamond on it, partially delaminated. This caused some deep gouges that I had to grind out with the 800 grit. Funnily enough, just today as I was working with them again, it happened again, except for with the 1500 grit now. So now both my 1500 and 3000 have delaminated bits that shred rocks. The pictures are after they have been polished with cerium oxide. I tried to get as many of the gouges out as possible, but they're right in the middle of the wheel and are virtually unavoidable. I will be getting better finishing wheels. The quality of these wheels is not worth it for 1500grit plus. Do not buy these if you want long lasting flat lap wheels.
