Effective and efficient.
I purchased these traps as I had a mole that was pretty consistently digging some hills in my front lawn. I wasn't excited about killing the mole but I was at the end of my rope with tolerating the destruction. I placed the trap in an active tunnel that I knew the mole was using pretty frequently. My soil is more sandy, loamy dirt so it was very easy to get the trap in the ground and set. You will want to put these on an active tunnel to ensure the highest changes of catching the mole. I had the trap out for about 3-4 days before I caught the mole. The trap is easy to set - just place your foot on the bar and push down on it to open the trip and set the spring mechanism. The trap is very sturdy and heavyweight. It is strong in terms of clamp force and the mechanism springs quickly. This is designed to be an instant kill trap that reduces the mole's suffering. I caught one and it looks like he didn't suffer long. I would definitely recommend these, and the price point is understandable given its construction and durability. It was a bit difficult to reopen the trap but I was being very careful about touching the mole so I made it a little harder on myself. All in all, very solid purchase and experience. Will definitely use these again if I catch another mole causing problems.

These are easy and work!!
These are awesome! I got one the first day, got a second one two days later. I reset them both but think they may be part of the original tunnels I check every day for new dirt or tunnels but so far so good.

Does exactly what it is supposed to as long as you are patient!
What: "Upgraded Mole Trap Scissor, Mole Traps for Lawns That Kill Best, Easy Step Setup" (just one) Why: I struggled with moles tearing up my yard, killing my grass, and damaging my landscaping. I already tried reducing their food source (put down beneficial nematodes), repelling them with some electronic, solar-powered stakes, and deterring them with a castor oil based solution applied to the tunnels, mounds, and throughout the area they were most active. While it seemed like there was some change by doing those three things, after about two months of trying, the moles continued to cause more damage than I could overlook. Pros: - It actually works, just be patient and move the trap every 8-12 hours until you get your target - Steel construction is durable Cons: - The "base plate" bar pivots making it easy for the trap to slant to one side or the other when stepping on the trap to set it. - When stepping on the trap to set it, it usually presses into the ground too far (the base plate is a bit low) which puts too much pressure on the trigger plate causing the trap to go off immediately or shortly after setting it. - The springs are very stiff which can make removing the mole after the trap has gone off a bit tricky. It will be difficult to do if you don't have good hand strength. Notes: What worked for me to set the trap was: 1. Press the disengaged trap into the tunnel as far as I could by hand (so the jaws open across the tunnel, not parallel with it). 2. Step on the trap to set it while trying to keep it from slanting off to one side or the other until it is set. 3. While still holding the set trap with my foot, hold the trap engaged with my hands before removing my foot. 4. With my hands, center the trap back up and then pull the trap slightly up until the trigger plate can move a little by hand with light contact with the ground/grass. 5. Slowly let go of the trap and wait 8-12 hours before moving it. Overall: This trap absolutely works if you are patient and moving the trap around to different tunnels 2-3 times a day. There were several occasions where the mole would just go around the trap and a few times where the trap went off without a mole passing by (probably due to the trap being pressed too far into the ground). After 2-3 days of moving the trap around, I was successful in getting the first mole. I then waited several days to see how things went. Then a second mole started tearing up the same landscaping the first one did so I set the trap again. After just 2 days, I got it. If you have already tried multiple other methods to try and get the moles out of your yard, then I can recommend this trap. However, I don't believe this should be your first option and highly encourage trying other methods first.

It works!!!
This contraption really gets the job done! I'm impressed. As many reviews state, it is a bit hard to set, but practice helps. The key is to keep the rectangle "frame" that's above the scissor's teeth flat on the ground and the scissor pointing straight down. Next, I put the middle of my foot on the highest point of the piece you push down on, go slow, focusing on pushing straight down. As you are pushing down, the scissor is opening over the mole's tunnel. If it's crooked, the teeth aren't aligned in a way that will catch your critter. Also, you might have a walking stick, step ladder or a chair to help you balance or get better leverage. My dogs have been safe with this, too. Neither were diggers though.

Didn’t catch my moles
Was told by a friend that this was the best tool to catch moles. I must have smart moles. Can’t catch any. Easy to set up. Quality was good and good value. Just didn’t catch any moles.

Extremely effective! Got a kill and eliminated the problem in a single day!
I was skeptical, but these BEASTS do exactly what they're supposed to. One thing to note is the instructions they come with MUST BE READ. Do not just go for it. Moles aren't like mice where you can just bait them. You need to figure out how their tunnels run, and if you're lucky enough to learn how to spot their worm trap areas, you've got it. So there's a little learning curve that has NOTHING to do with the traps themselves. But I caught the big boy within one day of setting up three. I wasn't sure how many I had, but generally expect about one mole per acre. They can be very territorial, but because of how extensive they can make their tunnels it might take a little learning to figure out your placement. I suggest buying at least 4 total if you have a full acre, but it's NOT the trap's issue because trust me, THEY DESTROY ALL MOLE LIFE. I was pretty impressed. Definitely recommend, and great customer service because one of my traps was faulty upon arrival. I know people like to try to be nice to pests sometimes, but for moles unless you're going to excavate and relocate, killing is really the only thing that will succeed. They can dig down up to 4', sometimes more, and their tunnel systems can be very extensive. Do what you need to, and do it now, buy these traps and DESTROY ALL MOLES.
