Handy if your laptop lacks an ethernet port
This is a very handy bit of kit! I have a new Dell XPS13 laptop, which is beautifully designed and well made, but is missing an ethernet port. On the odd occasion when I need to plug into a switch or router (usually during configuration), this little device has been great! It's plug and play with Windows 10 and required no configuration by me. It's low cost, but is well made and handy to have in my laptop bag. I can absolutely recommend!

Did the job well
The Cable Matters USB to Ethernet Adapter is a lifesaver! I needed to connect my laptop to a wired network, and this little gadget did the trick perfectly. Setting it up was a breeze - just plug it into a USB port, and I was good to go. The black design looks sleek, and it's so compact that I can easily throw it in my bag when I'm on the go. Now, I can enjoy fast and reliable internet access wherever I am. If you're looking for a simple and affordable way to add Ethernet connectivity to your devices, I highly recommend this adapter!

Confirmed suitable for Linux-based systems (GNU/Linux and Chrome OS)
If you are looking for an affordable USB Ethernet adapter that will work on GNU/Linux and Chrome OS (the Linux-based operating system which is installed on Chromebooks), this Cable Matters unit fits the bill. On my GNU/Linux desktop PC and on my Chromebook, it is recognised as an Ethernet adapter and is assigned an address by DHCP. The unit is based on the Realtek RTL8152 chip. Running lsusb in GNU/Linux shows: Bus 002 Device 010: ID 0bda:8152 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8152 Fast Ethernet Adapter ...and lsmod shows that the kernel automatically loads the r8152 module. Buy with confidence!

Confused at first, but not by the actual cable!
Three days prior to this showing up, I received a random different wire from the same company. I was very confused. I hadn’t contacted amazon because I hadn’t gotten around to it, but a few days later another wire showed up anyways and it was correct this time. It was very strange. This wire works perfectly, however and is perfect for getting my Nintendo Switch online!
