better than described. Worked right out of the box and has been a great addition to the drip system in the green house. Easy to use and dependable.

The digital settings work nicely, but the digital screen, within 3 months, became hard to read as it leveliped a large brown spot, making it hard to see, but the manufacturer sent a new one right away.

There aren't usage instructions inside of the box. Nuisance? Yes, but okay – surely RainDrip has documentation online, right? Nope. Finally getting around to try this item (we had enough rain until about a month ago, so...) and I'm writing this review immediately after leaving the RainDrip site, which has documentation for other models, but not this, seemingly newer (digital/programmable) model. Oh. Thanks? From what I can tell in the 10minutes or so I've been knob and button twiddling, this model doesn't have an auto-off, countdown timer, but will use blocks of time based on a 24-hr clock as the control. Was reeeeealllly hoping/aiming for a unit that could do that, but would simply let a person choose an amount of time, counting down from when that user presses the start button. If it does that, I don't see the LCD menu that grants access. You mean I can ONLY do regularly scheduled waterings by a 7-day/24-hr clock schedule? Arrrrgggghhhhh!!! Seriously, Rain Drip? Nobody figured that people might actually want to rotate the multifunction selector knob for an on-the-fly water session? For a device intended as attached to a house's outdoor hose bib and then a garden hose/watering accessory? Could be that Rain Drip is intended only for more "permanent" watering layouts and I'm the oaf who didn't accurately guess what the box, and manufacturer website, DIDN'T make available for me to misunderstand. oof

It works but it is not intuitive to program. I have three analog three dial ones that work well and are easy to program. I have just ordered a fourth to replace the Digital one I bought last year. The instruction manual refers you to the Raindrip website for programming instructions but I could not find them. I bought this last year and remembered it was a beast to program. After struggling with it again this year I have decided to get rid of the digital one and replace it with the analog. Just because you can make something digital does not mean it is better than analog.

I am starting to prepare for my spring garden, and needed a new timer for a new raised bed that I have planned. I have the trusty 3 dial timer from raindrip and was excited to see that they have an upgraded version with a screen. The new digital timer is a huge improvement over the old timer. It has many of the things that I like about the last one - the metal part that connects to the hose bibb is really sturdy, the dials are easy to grip/use, and the ability to water now or delay watering has come in handy on my last version and i am glad to see them here. The way you program this is a little different from the last version, but offers much more flexibility. You use the big dial to pick what you want to program, and the little dial acts as a button and a scroll wheel. You do have to push the little dial to get it to start scrolling, but once you get the hang of it, it is easy! I love that I can pick which days of the week i water, and that i can make it start multiple times on the days it waters. I think i can program a cycle and soak using this method. The screen is really easy to see, and i think the cover will help to protect the screen over time. I am really pleased with this timer and am looking forward to using it this season.
