TOPENS TC196 Tuya WiFi Remote Control for Automatic Swing Sliding Gate Opener Garage Door Opener with iOS and Android App WiFi & Bluetooth Security Gate Controller

Original 2 Star review: (UPDATED TO 5 STAR BELOW) Using this device has me crossing my fingers each time I go to open the gate. I have the box plugged in the house on the same wall that my gate opener is on. The total distance between antennas is less than 30ft, and WIFI signal for the device plugin location shows Good in the app. I need to open and close it in the morning to take out the trash cans, and most of the time it is unresponsive when I try and close it. So I completely close the app, unplug the unit from the wall, reinitialize the device and then try again. Sometimes it works and other times I have pulled the pin on the gate just to be able to close and tie the gate shut with some string so I wasn't late to work. Pretty worthless, but would be fantastic if it was reliable. Will be waiting on tech-support to help with a solution and update how they handle it. UPDATED REVIEW: 5 STARS TECH SUPPORT HANDLED ME VERY WELL WITH MULTIPLE EMAILS SUGGESTING SOLUTIONS.... RESOLUTION WAS THAT MY ASUS ROUTER HAD DONE A AUTO-FIRMWARE UPDATE AND KNOCKED OFF MY GARAGE WIFI MESH NODE, IT WAS NOT CONNECTING TO THE RIGHT ROUTER AND CAUSED THE INTERMITTANT ISSUE. I NOTICED THAT MY PHONE WAS GRABBING MY NEIGHBORS WIFI DESPITE BEING WITHIN 60 FT OF MY GARAGE NODE. ONCE THE MESH NODE WAS REINITALIZED, THE CONNECTION WAS STABLE AND HAVEN'T HAD ANY ISSUE AND SINCE FIXED, I HAVE RELOCATED THE DEVICE FURTHER AWAY IN A HIDDEN PLACE AND WORKS PERFECT. NOW THAT IT IS WORKING, I HAVE SET UP 2 'SMART SCENES' FOR USE ON MY ANDROID AUTO. ITS NOW A ONE BUTTON PRESS ACROSS MY PHONE, CAR, MOTORCYCLE FOR GATE OPENING SCENARIOS. -FIRST IS SINGLE PRESS OPEN, WHICH WILL STAY OPEN TILL PRESSED AGAIN (NORMAL OPERATION) -SECOND IS A SINGLE PRESS, BUT OPENS THE GATE, DELAYS 20SEC AND THEN CLOSES THE GATE. SO I CAN DRIVE WHATEVER VEHICLE OUT AND NOT HAVE TO USE A OPTICAL OR GROUND LOOP SENSOR. VERY HANDY TOOL AND NO KEYPAD NEEDED. I WILL TRY SHARING THE CODE VIA THE APP NEXT TO SEE IF FAMILY CAN OPERATE THE GATE TOO.

Installed yesterday, works perfect, gate is 450 feet from the device and it opens the gate, clear directions

I purchased a complete Topens Dual Gate Opener setup (A La Carte) including: PW502 Opener, TC196 WiFi Remote, ERM12 Remote, TC175P Wired Keypad, TEW3 Vehicle Sensor Wand, and ET24 Gate Lock. After setting up and adjusting the gate travel, everything works as expected. One significant issue I had to work thru with the support staff at Topens was the inconsistent operation of the TC196 WiFi Remote that works via your smartphone. Although my indoor setup is well within the 230 meters from the gate controls (mine is about 50 meters at the most), the operation was inconsistent. It may work one day and not that afternoon. After several exchanges with Topens support, they suggested an external antenna ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B094MW1YMV/) that has fixed the issue. One additional tip I would offer is when you are setting up the TC196, the "paring" sequence MUST be done as fast as possible. It appears the main board only has a few seconds to press the momentary switch on the main board, then press "A" on phone, have lights flash and press "A" on phone again. It took me multiple tries to get it programmed. Again, after solving the issues with the TC196, all the operations of the gate and related components appear to be working as expected. Thanks again to the support at Topens for assistance in getting everything working!

Easy setup and works great. Useful for letting in delivery drivers when you are not home.

My topens front gate controller has been working as expected for several months, but it's sometimes a pain to hunt down the little 4 button remote control to open/close the gate. I found this Topens WiFi controller and decided to give it a try. The most important thing to know about the main Topens gate control box, with respect to this WiFi controller, is that it already contains a WiFi radio, thus allowing the WiFi controller to be located inside your house where it can receive a strong WiFi signal from your wireless access point, vs. having to put it at the gate and hope your WiFi signal reaches that far. As long as the WiFi controller is within a few hundred feet of the gate control box, they can talk to each other and viola! I mounted the WiFi controller in my garage, right next to a window that faces the main gate control box, and plugged it into a nearby outlet with the included adapter. To program the WiFi controller to talk to the gate control box: 1. Download the app to your phone 2. Follow the directions to connect the WiFi controller to your WiFi access point (ID & PW) 3. Take the front cover off of the main gate control box 4. Push the button that allows you to pair the gate control box with remote controls, the WiFi controller, etc. This results in a fast flashing of a red LED 5. Push the A, B, C or D button on the app on your phone, depending on which button you want to control the gate 6. Wait a few seconds and push it again. The red flashing light should go out, and the phone is now able to open/close/stop the gate by pushing the button you just programmed (A, B, C or D) The instructions refer to maybe having to remve the cover of the WiFi controller to reset it before pairing, but mine paired right away so no need for that. Only need to enable the pairing action from the button on the main gate control box. This now works just like my WiFi enabled garage door openers, light switches, etc. In my case, it's much more likely that I will have my phone with me when wanting to open/close the gate, than the little 4 button remote. And of course, you can operate the gate from anywhre that your phone is conntected to a wireless network. Slick. Hope it works for a long time.

I just received my package, and the first thing I can say is that this Topens Wi-Fi remote control has clearly been used before; it is scratched and dirty. This leads me to believe that the device probably won't function correctly. I did not pay to receive a used product.

Worked really well, easy to setup!

I received the wifi remote and connected to the gate opener control fairly easily. It worked for a few hours and then stopped. After some diagnosing figured out the plug was faulty. I contacted Topens and they were quick to respond and offer assistance. They were helpful and after getting a new plug and some minor wiring back into the wifi controller, everything worked great. They offered some extra remote key fobs for my trouble and were very pleasant to deal with. I would rate the wifi controller less than 5 stars, but the support more than made up for it and the wifi controller works well. I like that I can share with multiple people to gain access to my yard, but can delete them if I don't want them coming in.

Works fine but only one phone can connect to it from my experience

The Topens WiFi remote control is easy to install and setup just follow the instructions which is clear. First time it’s successfully connected to the internet but failed to connect with the gate control board , I tried to delete the device several times, finally I setup successfully although the device far way from the the gate. It’s convenient for my family numbers. Good product.
