Teaching 3rd and 4th grade with tickets.
I have tried punch cards, bags of candy, "jolly rancher wars" and all kinds of positive reinforcement options to motivate my students to pay attention in class, read chapter books, follow class rules, and do other things I need them to do. Now, I pass these tickets out to my students for all kinds of positive things all term long. Then at the end of the term, the students can trade in tickets for prizes. It's a great motivator that leads to higher class participation and better classroom behavior. The roll of tickets is exactly what you would expect. It's a pretty big roll of tickets made of yellow paper. I have bought it several times now.
