As Old As Time (Twisted Tale) : Braswell, Liz: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Cool new spin on an old classic - Really enjoyed this book. A cool new spin on an old classic and I liked how the author had some little tongue in cheek moments and nods to the 'original'. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series. Review: Loved this book - Loved this book. It sticks pretty close to the Disney story at the start but soon takes some interesting twists.

As Old as Time
This is a great read for Disney fans, perhaps more for teen/young adult Disney fans since there are some very graphic and violent moments along with some bad language, which I was surprised at Disney for allowing - but also admire their gutsyness to do so. On saying that its no more violent than the Harry Potter books. It really is a magnificent take on the original Disney story of Beauty and the Beast and enjoyed it as a separate story, I almost wish they were making this version for the upcoming live action.

... of both Beauty and the Beast films I absolutely loved this story
As a fan of both Beauty and the Beast films I absolutely loved this story. Gave it a whole new perspective to the story and made me question some things from the original cartoon. Highly recommend for a Disney or Beauty and the Beast fan!

An interesting retelling of an old classic Disney tale
I've been wanting to read one of the Disney Twisted Tales books for awhile now, as one I adore Disney and 2, I quite enjoy the Fairytale retelling, albeit still being new to the concept as only just started venturing into reading this type of genre. So with that said, I went into As Old As Time with open eyes and open mind. My ultimate thoughts are that I liked some parts of the story but there were some parts I didn't enjoy. I liked and enjoyed how the story went back and forth, so you've got the story of Maurice & Rosalind mostly in the past and then you've got the story of Belle herself in the present. The part that I didn't enjoy so much were the events that took place near the end in the Asylum, won't go into details as wouldn't want to ruin the story for anyone, but I just felt that said events weren't a great fit for the story and I was surprised also as this story is meant to be aimed at young adults and those events were just too much for young minds, but that's just my opinion. On the whole though it was a fun entertaining (most of the time) story with some unexpected twists and surprises. I especially enjoyed the story of Belle and Beast coming together which had a different slant on it to the original story. I also liked how the story branched out, so as we could get to know Maurice a bit more more to include his past and that of Belle's mother Rosalind, who had no story of her own to tell in the original Disney version. I'm still looking forward to reading some of the other Twisted tales books but do hope that I'll enjoy them more than this one.
