Q: How is the seat secured? The one we have has a screw lock on each side to tighten to the bowl.

The seat is not that secure. It has a small plastic ring that goes into the bowl and the rest depends on luck. We bought another from a medical supply store much like the one you describe. with screw locks. This seat DOES NOT have screw locks.

Q: Will this work for elongated and standard seats?

It does state that it will work for both standard and elongated seats.
