Completely silent in operation and a direct fit for a UK common M30x1.5 radiator valve. Wire up a 240v plug on the other end and connect it to a smart plug and there you go. You have a fully automated Smart TRV that can be controlled and scheduled from Alexa. I have bought several of those actuators that I control with the extremely configurable Tasmota-based (Local Bytes) smart plugs, allowing me to set up daily schedules for turning radiators on and off around the house.

Bought this as it screws on in place of standard TRV and paired with a wireless programmable thermostat, you get room time/temperature control of each rad. Only thing it won't do is call for heat from boiler. In one room I've got it on a smart socket (smartthings from Samsung) and with a temperature sensor, I can do the control with the SmartThings app.

Used these for "DIY" smart-heating and they've been working very reliably. I had a couple of actuators from another brand that failed after a year but I've replaced them all with these and they are going strong. A slight annoyance though: I bought a few of these a while back and they had a metal screw ring, I had to buy a new one recently and it had a black plastic screw ring unlike the pictures.

Fitted on a danfoss radiator valve in place of the TRV and use it to remotely control the radiator from my smart home system. The valve is silent in operation and doesn't run hot to touch in operation. There is a mechanical indicator on top of the valve to show if it's open which was a nice feature.

The plastic M30 screw ring does not properly hold the actuator onto the valve. can be pulled off leaving the ring in place
