Directed and produced by Doctor Who and Sherlock stalwart Mark Gatiss, these eight short monologues explore an entire century of the LGBT experience in the UK. And it does so all from one pub: everything in Queers from a returning First World War soldier recalling a forbidden love, to an anxious husband-to-be prepping his speech for one of the first gay weddings takes places in a single room. Featuring: The Man on the Platform (Ben Whishaw) A Grand Day Out (Fionn Whitehead) More Anger (Russell Tovey) Missing Alice (Rebecca Front) I Miss the War (Ian Gelder) Safest Spot in Town (Kadiff Kirwan) The Perfect Gentleman (Gemma Whelan) Something Borrowed (Alan Cumming) Includes Subtitles for the Hard of Hearing Review: Poignant and full of bittersweet nostalgia - These varied cameos have the status of high art, and no mistake. Have a hanky ready! A delight from start to finish, but not always a lighthearted one. Review: Impressive insightful tv series - Very good fast delivery and an amazing series on gay lives throughout different periods. Eye opener. Recommended to watch.

So many good performances.
All very good. The Man on the Platform was particularly good.

Magnificentcdrama.
Magnificent collection of monologues detailing LGBT life from the turn of the 20th Century until the present day. Realistic, poingniant and incredibly touching, they are full of laughs and tears. Everybody will recognise themselves in at least one of the beautiful stories.

Nothing queer about this, just superb acting
Brilliant series. I highly recommend this. Each story is a little gem. I don't really want to choose one, but I have to admit that Ben Wishaw's story about the WW1 soldier was very moving

Outstanding monologues!
A rejoicing and sometimes moving British gay history chronicle of monologues of the 20th. Century to the present day. Ben Wishaw bought tears to my eyes...have a box of tissues handy.

Queers
Very different monologues given from different gay points of view, very well done. The two best (& most moving) feature Ben Whishaw & Russell Tovey.

Just to clarify for people who might be hesitant - I HAVE a region-free DVD player, as well as a region 1, so didn't hesitate to purchase. However, these discs are coded for Regions 2, 5 and 9 - 9 being a universal format, which will and DOES play on my Region 1 player. The plays are all at least interesting, with the majority of them BRILLIANT, and the performances are top-rate across the board. I had read the script prior to purchase, and am so glad I went ahead and bought the DVDs, since seeing them is even better than reading them.
