Best budget-to-mid IEMs for competitive gaming — incredible value for Valorant
Best budget-to-mid IEMs for competitive gaming — incredible value for Valorant To preface: I am not an audiophile — I just needed a reliable pair of IEMs for competitive gaming, specifically Valorant. After testing 5 of the top-rated IEMs across multiple budget ranges, these absolutely blew everything else out of the water. Sound Quality & Performance: I genuinely cannot tell the difference in soundstage, clarity, or spatial awareness between the Truthear Hexa and my Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pros. The directional audio is incredibly accurate, which is crucial for a game like Valorant where every footstep and reload matters. These also avoid the excessive bass that can muddy details — the balance is tuned perfectly for gaming. Comfort & Fit: This was the biggest surprise for me. I have very small ear canals and typically can't wear in-ear headphones at all — they either fall out or hurt within minutes. The Hexa includes multiple tip options, including memory foam ear tips, and they’ve been a game-changer. I wore them for 5+ hour sessions with zero discomfort or slippage. The foam tips also offer passive noise cancellation, which gave me the isolation I needed without the heat buildup I get from over-ear headsets like the DT 990s. Design: The only thing I’d change is the aesthetic — black is fine, but I wish these came in other colors or materials. That said, the build quality is solid and sleek, and it’s a minor gripe for an otherwise flawless experience. Final Verdict: If you're looking for high-performance IEMs for FPS gaming without breaking the bank, the Truthear Hexa are the best you’ll find. They punch way above their price point and are now my daily go-to for Valorant. Comfortable, detailed, and competitive-grade — a clear 5-star product. ✅ This review is based on real-world, side-by-side testing to help other competitive gamers make an informed choice.

Fantastic for the price. If you're on the fence, DON'T BE!
Design and Feel: These feel precise, given they are 3D-printed resin shells with transparent, matte aluminum faceplates A very modern and sleek aesthetic. Despite their angular design, they are extremely comfortable and stability for prolonged wear is great, complemented by excellent passive noise isolation. The included lightweight cable enhances usability and matches the overall design and there are plenty of included tip sizes in silicone and foam so you're sure to find a good fit. Sound: The Hexa presents a neutral-leaning sound signature with a subtle warmth, ideal for extended listening sessions. While satisfactory without amplification, they truly shine when powered by a quality source. The bass, particularly in the sub-bass range, delivers impact and depth, though mid-bass may lack some presence. The midrange is clear and transparent, with excellent instrument separation and layering. Vocals are clear, though not overly emphasized. The treble extends well and offers ample detail without causing fatigue but doesn't have a ton of shine or sparkle. Bass: With an emphasis on sub-bass, these provide satisfying depth and rumble. However, the mid-bass lacks the same impact, particularly noticeable in tracks with bass-heavy elements. It's still there, just not as present. Despite this, the bass response is overall satisfying, with good texture and speed. Mids: The midrange of the Hexa is neutral with a slight darkness due to a dip in the lower treble. Instruments are portrayed with forwardness and precision, offering good layering and separation. Both male and female vocals are well-represented, with clarity and depth but not intimately portrayed. The midrange remains clean and transparent, without any unwanted coloration or bleed. Treble: The treble here is detailed and airy, offering an open presentation without harshness or sibilance. While not overly emphasized, it extends well and provides ample detail, contributing to an engaging listening experience. The treble tuning is safe, ensuring comfortable listening over extended periods. Soundstage: The soundstage of the Truthear Hexa is well-rounded but leans towards intimacy rather than expansiveness. Despite this, imaging remains precise, allowing for accurate placement of instruments within the soundstage. While not the widest, the soundstage offers sufficient depth and separation for an immersive listening experience. Conclusion: In conclusion, the Truthear Hexa IEMs combine impressive design with commendable sonic performance. Their sleek and comfortable construction, coupled with excellent passive noise isolation, makes them a great choice for everyday use. Sonically, they strike a balance between warmth and neutrality, offering impactful sub-bass, transparent mids, and detailed treble. While they may lack some mid-bass punch and have a slightly narrow soundstage, their technical performance and overall transparency make them a compelling option in their price range. For those seeking a reliable and enjoyable pair of IEMs under $100, the Truthear Hexa is without a doubt a top-tier contender.

Impressive Sound for the Price – A Musician’s Perspective
These are good! While I don’t have extensive experience with IEMs, I’ve spent many years as a recording musician and know what a well-balanced monitor should sound like — and the Truthear Hexa delivers. The Hexa has a very musical and cohesive tuning with a pleasing blend of lows, mids, and highs. The bass is controlled and present, never bloated or overwhelming. There's a tasteful sub-bass lift that adds depth without muddying the mix. What really stands out to me is the midrange. Compared to my Moondrop CHU II, which has more of a scooped character, the Hexa offers more natural, full-sounding mids that bring out the richness in rock and acoustic tracks beautifully. The treble is detailed and clear — acoustic guitars, for instance, sound stunning. That said, on certain tracks, especially those with bright hi-hats, the highs can come across a touch hot, though never harsh. If you're after a fun, bass-heavy IEM for genres like reggae or funk, the Hexa might not fully deliver out of the box. That said, a slight EQ bump — I add just +1dB at 60Hz — brings out enough low-end punch to make them work well. Their more neutral, reference-style tuning prioritizes accuracy over impact. But for listeners who value balance and detail, especially in vocal-driven rock or acoustic music, the Hexa truly shines. They can rock! The Hexa fits my ear well, they are light weight and very comfortable and they are well made. I hope this helps.

Ses netliği sahnesi her şeyiyle on katı fiyattaki kulaklıkları bile dövebilecek bir kulaklık.

Sounds good. But not as good as how it has been hyped. Sound is fitting for the price. A bit much mid bass and mid range sounds recessed. Detail is only satisfactory.

i can't find any other people having problems with these iem's but this is my experience: First pair lasted me about a year before one side lost a significant amount of volume. i made sure it wasn't the cable or dac's fault (it wasn't) and returned them. after returning them i ordered a second pair and the right one had some kind of residue on it. when trying the second pair the left one sounded fine but the right one had horrible distortion and static noise with any voices. i love the sound of my original pair but i just don't have any faith that they will work for an extended amount of time

Sounds great in my opinion, lightweight I almost forget I am wearing them. No more headset hair.
