Charge into Reading Stage 2: Consonant Blends Decodable Reader Set | Beginning Readers, Ages 4+ : Brooke Vitale: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Great confidence booster - This decodable book helped my child go from guessing words to actually reading them. It was challenging enough to help them learn but not too hard to frustrate them. Review: I got this for my 4 year old, who is learning to read. We love these books. She is working on her blends and I like that each book focuses on a different type of blend. The stories are interesting, cute artwork, and the perfect level for her reading. Not too easy, and not too long of sentences. I love that they include some activities in the back of the book for more literacy practice!

Excellent decodable books for beginner readers. I love the story line and simple humour to tickle the young readers.

I started out using the first set of Charge Into Reading books (which reinforces short vowel sounds) with my son who is four. When he started to feel really confident reading from those, I ordered this set which introduces consonant blends. It has been really wonderful to have interesting decodable readers to go along with our homeschool reading instruction. I really appreciate that this are visually appealing and have interesting stories as they seem to hold my son’s attention and he actually gets excited to read them and do the additional activities in the back. I definitely recommend them for home or classroom learning!

we are doing consanant blends & the way the have the books, first they teach the new new words, 2nd read the story & 3rd it works backwards with the words to teach spelling. My grandaughter thinks the last section is games but at 5 1/2 these boojs have been an amazing first step into reading. Ivplan on going all the way to the 10th set of books. The stories are kid friendly, they teach then reinfore the new words with a cute story & then turn into small "spelling" games. Icthink there are 6 or 7 pages of quick small sections to rwview & reinforce steps 1 & 2. I taught my son also& used mostly dr. suess but these are better. Buy em for you 4-6 yr olds & teach them young the joy of reading. My grandaughter gets excited at reading time. Hooked on phonics is good but slow paced. Itsgreat for learning the letter sounds & to start but my grandaughter was bored woth it. I ordered the 1st set of books & she loved them.

I am a special education teacher who works with students with dyslexia everyday. When my own daughter entered Kindergarten it was extremely important for me to get my own budding reader into decodable books. For her, it was important to feel like she was reading a “real” book. These books follow OG principles and have great illustrations. I highly recommend them for a home or school setting!
