8" x 8" Lab Scissors Jack, 85 to 280mm Vertical Lift Range

Numerous applications for this scissors jack. When unextended the platform is about 2.5" inches high to a maximum of around 10.5 inches fully extended. The model i have is the one with an 8" square platform. In a laboratory setting it could be very useful as part of setting up a small distillation process and with a maximum load of 15 kilograms it could certainly accommodate containers holding substantial amounts of liquids or other substances etc. The design is simple and functional - the large black plastic knob allows a pretty fine control of platform height that should be more than accurate enough for all but very special experiments or set - ups. Even fully extended there is no discernible "wobble" even after putting some considerable pressure or weight on it - this can be particularly important say if you wanted to use it for holding a stereo microscope in place - the last thing you would want in such a case is a wobbly platform - I say this because I have seen cheaper models do just that from certain large far east stores! In short it does it's job and does it well - couldn't ask for anything more from it.

I have a small pillar drill which I use for miniature work that does not require a lot of downward force but have always had problems with reach as the handle on the drill would bottom out too soon and I am unable to drill all the way through. This platform is absolutely idea for this purpose as it is a lot quicker to raise / lower the height. Perhaps not the intended use for this design but it works absolutely perfect for my application. Price point does appear a little steep but this is a specialised item and for the purpose I have assigned it is ideal. I intend to bolt a small hand vice to the top plat to further increase the accuracy.
