If you do this the right way, you'll get grass
Bermuda grass is either the bane of one's existence (northerners), or it's the answer to prayers for something green. For the south Texan, it's the latter. You probably don't need my story, but you'll get it anyway. I'm a confessed grass addict. I had the fancy turf, (Tiff Bermuda grass), and it was the envy of my culdesac. Then I moved into the boonies-- former farmland, clay soil, and water restrictions. I wanted grass--nay--needed it. So I bought Blackjack bermuda to replicate something of a fancy turf-- it just didn't pan out. As a backup, I bought Pennington's Bermuda. The first time I bought it, it grew very slowly, but it still grew. Bermuda takes about 3 weeks to germinate, so my seed must have been an average batch--OR SO I THOUGHT. Come to find out, I just didn't have the right conditions. Here's what you need. 1. Get a soil test and find out what nutrients are missing from your soil. pH is also important. 2. You need loose soil. Cover up that seed with loose dirt, or press it down into the dirt with a roller. Peat moss may work. Long story short, you need seed to soil contact. 3. You need a starter fertilizer with the Bermuda seed. 4. Plant at the right time. If it's too hot outside, the seed won't grow too well. I grew my first batch in October, and it was still scorching here in Texas. 5. You need consistency in watering. If you water it well, it will grow. You will need to do this for 3 weeks. Bermuda is a slow grower initially. Believe it or not, you'll still see sprouting seed 5 weeks later. When I bought Pennington for a second time, it grew like wild fire. Planting right in early spring and the weather was simply perfect. I'm about to buy my 3rd seed batch for my final planting project. 20000 sq feet

Best grass seed for Southern NM
Amazing results in arid NM high desert. Growing well in full, intense sun and moderate shade. Some seeds did not germinate until we had our monsoon season and then there was a nice flush of new grass seedlings. Much better seed for this climate than previous Bermuda that is offered.

not a single seed germinated out of the 5 lb bag
The seeds would not germinate even though I babied them and spent quite a bit of time effort and money on cleaning, raking ,top soil, and of course a lot of expensive water. I reseed my lawn every year and that never happened to me before but I've used Scott brand before. I called Pennington customer service and the lady was all about apologies and the usual sorry for the inconvenience and she refunded me half the price I paid for the bag because I didn't keep the empty bag! This was quite disappointing. I am a 100% convinced that I was sold a bag of expired dead seeds. Beware Gardners, Pennington does not guarantee their product.

Great seed
Just what I wanted, I made a mistake. Did not have fertilizer with it. Bought some earlier that did. Won't be using this till spring

Working for me in the south.
Working well for my yard, but I have a sprinkler system that goes off at 9, 11, 2:30, and 5 during the day. You must water the seed good or the grass coming in will die. I live in the south, so watering is a must! It grows slowly, so be patient.

50% sprouting
I only get about 50% sprouting with this product. I rake the ground, spread with a hand shaker and covered with soil. Spotty growth.

Produced beautiful grass in the desert in less than 2 months!
This seed grew beautiful Bermuda grass within a little over a month. We live in the desert and our backyard and front yard were dirt. I believe it would’ve grown even more if we knew what we were doing….first time trying to grow grass! Started spreading the seed mid April and saw growth by June. Our spring to summer temperatures are high 80’s up 105 and the grass is still doing well. We will definitely continue to buy this product!
