Practical Contract Management : Carter, Ray, Kirby, Steve, Oxenbury, Alan: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Useful - I have used it to aid me in designing a training course and it was very useful and well written. Review: Worst book every - absolutely shameful - This is honestly the worst book I have ever seen. Virtually every sentence contains typos. Most illustrations are missing, with comments by the writers to each other like "Dan, please insert a picture here". Unbelievable.

Not really a usable publication
I cannot agree with the previous reviewer that this is an academic book. Whilst the content is more academic than practical there are no references to the work of others in the field and it is light on concepts and theory. My main concern though is the standard of presentation, more like an undergraduate draft than a commercial publication with spelling and grammar mistakes, diagrams and case study material missing, certainly not something I could recommend to students, cheap-but then it nees to be.

Better Books Available
For a book entitled 'Practical Contract Management' this book doesn't really hit the spot. A more appropriate title may be 'The Theory of Contract Management' as the book deals with a number of commercial/procurement issues without getting down into the detail of the subject. This book is a useful top level guide (and includes some strong chapters on Alternative Dispute Resolution and the tendering process) but shouldn't be viewed as an operational level instruction manual (as the title suggests). Also the number of spelling/grammatical mistakes is worrying. It's worth a read but it's not in my top 20 commercial/procurement books.

Rubbish
Not surer if this is fake copy but the way the book is explaining something is sub standard. Even the index does not add up, for example I am looking for contract types, lets lots of page numbers here, the last , 209 is actually the next page in the index! I have read the book servel times since I purchased it 3 2 or 3 weeks ago, and it is very hard to follow, or find what you are looking at. I actually came back on here to email the seller, as I believe this to be a fake copy. Even if it wasn't I bet that it will still be difficult to follow because of the way it is written, explainations are sub standard.

Good content poorly transferred to digital
Decent content for someone.wanting to learn the 'basics' although the large number of typos and poor formatting can be distracting

I had expected to see some contractual terms and conditions and they way a contract need to be created. Instead the authors describe general issues every contract manager should already know. It looks like the authors published their thesis just to raise money.

I urgently needed it for research on contract management and found it very practical indeed! Its written in simple clear style that is easy to read. It goes beyond the general procurement guidelines that are normally given on this topic & focuses on the very real & relevant issues that affect contract management.

Ok introductory book to Contract management. The book was written in England, so I am uncertain if all of the information would be applicable in the US. The book had many spelling/grammar errors, and I am not referring to the English spelling of the words. The word "we" was used a great deal incorrectly and there were other errors. But overall an easy read and a nice introduction to Contract Management.

After the first chapter things head downhill. The multitude of spelling and grammatical errors distract from what is a very basic introduction to contract tract management. I can't recommend this book, look for something else.

Refresher for those needing the basics...poor grammar/spelling should be overlooked as content is solid. Recommend for beginners or as a reminder of the basics.
