Dr. Alexander Pühringer has found a terrific way to teach German methodically and thoroughly, pointing out the latest conventions as German has evolved today. As an American who started learning German in Pennsylvania from the age of nine, continuing through college, and now refreshing my skills at sixty, I find Dr. Pühringer‘s methods very helpful. I own, and highly recommend his entire series of books- „ausgezeichnet“!

I like that the topics are presented clearly and without complications unnecessary for beginners. This simplicity makes it easy to get an overview of what needs to be mastered. At some points it seems a bit oversimplified, but I speak more than one language and have an advanced degree in linguistics, so my view is probably not typical for a beginner at learning German.

Every German student should have this book. Especially if you love The quirkiness of German grammar, this book will answer your questions. I highly recommend you buy the companion workbook. The the exercises follow the grammar in the book. I especially like the sections in the back that discuss various grammar topics that are peculiar to the German language.

Cover a lot of and the most impotent subjects in German Grammar. The great benefit is that the explanations are not too long and right to the point mostly.
