Love this game. It really takes me back to my childhood playing on the Apple 2E we had.

Great Upgrades! A must buy!!!
This game is super nostalgic for my husband and myself! I had to pry myself away from it after playing it every night after work for hours! It's just like the original game, but with better graphics and added upgrades! For your party, you add 4 people. You can use the names given to them or edit to your liking. For each person, they have different personalities so choose wisely. You can buy a wagon kit or customize your own for the amount of money you start out with. There are many stops and options along the way to each fort. You can hunt and fish (my favorite)! There are challenges and quests along your journey. It's definitely a memory/thinking game. The further you go, the harder it gets! I absolutely love this game and can't wait for the colder months when we're inside all the time so my family and I can play more! Definitely worth it and a must buy!!!

Fun game to play!
My kids love this game! It’s a change of pace from online games! It takes skill and isn’t always easy to choose the best choices for the characters! It’s fun! I suggest this game!

The Oregon Trail Nintendo Switch
A Great Modern Take on a Classic Journey The Oregon Trail on Nintendo Switch is a fantastic reimagining of the classic educational game, blending nostalgia with modern enhancements. The game stays true to its roots, offering the familiar challenging trek across the American frontier, where players must carefully manage supplies, navigate unexpected dangers, and make tough decisions that impact their journey. One of the biggest improvements in this version is the presentation. The pixel-art style combined with dynamic animations brings the journey to life in a way that feels fresh yet faithful to the original. The soundtrack is beautifully composed, perfectly complementing the setting. The UI is clean and user-friendly, making it easy to track resources, health, and progress. Beyond visuals, the game adds depth to the storytelling by incorporating diverse perspectives, including Native American characters and narratives. This provides a more historically informed experience than previous versions. The game also features multiple difficulty levels, varied routes, and a wide selection of party members, adding replayability and allowing players to experience new challenges each time. However, there are a few drawbacks. The game's pacing can sometimes feel slow, especially during long stretches where not much happens. While random events keep things unpredictable, some moments can feel unfair, such as sudden illnesses or accidents that wipe out a key party member with no way to prevent it. This can be frustrating, particularly in harder playthroughs. Additionally, while the updated visuals are charming, some fans of the original may wish for an option to switch to a more retro aesthetic. Overall, this is one of the best modern versions of The Oregon Trail, delivering a fun, engaging, and historically rich experience. Whether you’re a longtime fan or a newcomer, this game is a great blend of strategy, survival, and storytelling. While it isn’t perfect, it’s a worthy update to a beloved classic. A solid 4-star experience!

Just Like I Remember!
I’m 40 years old and remember playing Oregon Trail back in elementary school, so I was really excited when I saw it was coming to the Switch. I actually pre-ordered it because I couldn’t wait to play again and then had to borrow my kids’ Switch so I could play. So far, I’ve really enjoyed it! It brings back a lot of memories. A perfect mix of nostalgia and fun.

Nostalgic fun, updated
I wasn't sure about this one at first, but once I started playing, I was hooked. It's the Oregon Trail that you remember -- it has all of the trials, the hunting, and the ever-constant threat of dysentery, but it also has a good amount of user input that makes you feel like you're actually in control of what happens. I like, too, that once you get through the basic play-through, there are new quests and challenges to complete so that you can unlock new character classes and abilities. Is this game for everyone? Probably not. If you run out of food, for example, you get to butcher and eat one of your oxen. There's a mini-game where you have to transport a crazy amount of dynamite, cooling it off with water along the way, but if you run out of water or hit a bump, everything suddenly explodes and everyone in your party dies. And of course, the gun will randomly go off and shoot a character in the stomach when your wagon hits a bump. Some kids will be freaked out by that, and it may not be right for your family. My kids and I love it all, though. It's well worth it.

Very fun
Me and my husband really enjoy playing this it’s very challenging and entertaining. You get dysentery if you aren’t clean, suddenly get shot on accident, people try to steal from you, you can get bit by a snake, people die and many more things.

Great game!
This is like the old floppy disk game from the 80 and 90s. Great game then only downfall is one player at a time.

I like this game for the 90's nostalgia. If your expecting a modern warfare experience this is not the game for you. If you are looking for that early floppy disk computer room grade 4 experience....look no further. The graphics have definitely been upgraded, but the old world threat is still there.

Even though this is a 1 player game, when you change the character names to those in your family, everyone gathers around to play, making decisions together to see what happens next, laugh at the sibling with dysentry, or hopping around after a successful hunt. As basic as the game is, it is rather addicting and great fun.

I played this game as a child in school and absolutely loved it so when I saw they made it for the switch I bought it. Is it the most exciting game I’ve ever played? No, but I enjoyed it part and partial because of nostalgia so if you liked the game as a child, you’ll like it as an adult. My 12 yo kid, however thought it was boring which I mean it kind of is but I still enjoyed it!!

I bought this with much excitement, but I'm not an online gamer, nor a person who likes to create online accounts. (More annoying emails than I need or care for.) This game forces you to place an online Nintendo account and will not start up unless you have a Nintendo account. I do not have one, nor do I want to create one. So, it wont even open up to the menu screen of the game. If you're like me, dont waste your money. Every other game I've bought so far allows you to plug and play immediately after the game downloads. Super disappointed cause the game looked like it might be fun.
