![The Incredible Shrinking Woman [DVD]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/41rkX1nyHEL.jpg)

The loveable and laughable Lily Tomlin stars in the high-spirited comedy The Incredible Shrinking Woman. Exposed to a bizarre mix of household chemicals, ordinary housewife and mother Pat Kramer (Tomlin), develops a strange illness—she begins to shrink. Baffling doctors and struggling to take care of her family, Pat's diminishing size captures the hearts of the American people but also the attention of an evil group of scientists plotting to take over the world! Review: Classic movie - holds up and still relavent! - While this DVD has no bells and whistles - it's just the movie, no bonus features or anything, it's still awesome. Lily Tomlin is a comedic genius, playing the lead and a side character. I watched this movie twenty years ago as a child and thought the message about chemicals being toxic was scary then and even more so now! It's interesting how pertinant the subject matter is. That being said, this movie is pure entertainment. We watched it as a family and both my husband and son were interested throughout. My son was delighted when Lily Tomlin gets so tiny that she lives in the kids Barbie dollhouse. THe supporting cast is excellent as well as the kids. Joel Schumacher does an excellent job directing. Warning: the song, "I wish I was a little bar of soap" will get stuck in your head and make you smile. Enjoy a classic that is both laugh out loud funny and thought provoking. Surely a conversation starter at the dinner table. Review: Awesome movie! Terrible "DVD" Read Before Buying - I just wanted to give a warning to those who are going to buy this. While I am happy desertcart got the rights to create these DVDs "On Demand" because a great majority of people would never be able to see this awesome movie otherwise, I have to give it a terrible rating. Why? Because the quality is horrible. I bought a bootleg of this movie at a convention 4 months ago as well, and it is Widescreen, High Definition and looks awesome for such a low budget, older movie. The desertcart version is FULL screen, grainy (which even the VHS wasn't so it's worse than VHS quality), and the sound is awful. If you can't find this anywhere else, then of course go ahead and get this movie. If you go to movie conventions or know where to get the bootleg, get it. It was shown on Sundance in Hi-Def and in Widescreen and is 100x better than this transfer.

The incredible story of Pat Kramer
Very amusing and well done comedy of a take on Incredible Shrinking ordeal, and not to be compared with The Incredible Shrinking Man which was a much more realistic sci-fi classic tale. Lily Tomlin shines as does the rest of the crew in this colorful outlook of products and it's chemical compounds gone awry in the body of Pat Kramer who suffers a shrinking disorder to oblivion. Nice little side moral along the way of how anyone, no matter what size, can make a strong valuable difference in the world of caring to make a difference. Funniest parts actually begin toward the last fourth quarter of the movie when it turns its story in the lab, and involves a lab gorilla with the comedic timing of a natural born comic. His status for flipping off the lab scientists is pure comedic pleasure in the primal nature of wanting to do just a thing to the people who tend to manipulate us as lab experiments in the real world. I actually have no beef or comment to make other than this is one of the 80s decade finest with many memorable scenes, including the house maid Concepcion who is outrageous in sterotype, and rhythmic latin dancing in the kitchen, makes us all jump for joy. The addition of seeing it online thanks to Amazon, is also another added plus.

Fun and funny remake of the 50's sci-fi classic. Nice looking/sounding Blu-ray.
BOTTOM LINE: A clever adaption of the classic Richard Matheson source material. Lily Tomlin leads a strong cast on the wild journey of a chemically-bombarded suburban housewife who finds herself shrinking (in more ways than one) into obscurity. Make-up F/X legend Rick Baker is amazing (and hilarious) as 'Sidney' the gorilla. Solid hi-def transfer has great picture & sound, along with a nice selection of bonus content. Highly recommended for comedy and sci-fi fans alike. 4 STARS THOUGHTS: I've loved this quirky 80's comedy ever since I first caught it on cable waaay back in the day. Then it just seemed to disappear. Surprising that many folks today seem to have never heard of it! Lily Tomlin is great as frustrated, ever-dwindling homemaker Pat Kramer, and Charles Grodin is his typically dry, deadpan self as her thick-headed semi-understanding husband. Rick Baker & Mark Blankfield almost steal the show as the Koko-inspired lab gorilla Sidney & his Jerry Lewis-like janitor/handler, Rob. Special shout out to great character actor turns by Henry Gibson and Ned Betty. Definitely one of wildly uneven director Joel Schumacher's better efforts. The film takes many diversions from (but sticks surprisingly close to) the Richard Matheson story & the seminal 50's film it inspired. Visual effects are a mixed but mostly effective bag. Bizarre color scheme is off-putting to some, but IMHO just adds to the disorientation of both the viewer and Tomlin's character. And just try to get that damn Galaxy Glue jingle out of your head when it's all said and done. LOL. For the most part the movie is perfectly safe viewing for the entire family. This film along with the visually similar INNER SPACE would make a great sci-fi/comedy double feature. THE BLU-RAY: A nice effort by Shout!Factory. It was great to see them rescue this fun little film from video obscurity. The picture is clean, clear and mostly free of dirt, debris and other unpleasantness, with very little in the way of artifacting, pixelation, edge enhancement or other video gremlins. Sound is crisp, clear and evenly balanced between dialogue & music/sound effects. A good looking transfer, combined with a decent selection of bonus features makes this Blu-ray a winner.

Funny, crazy movie!
Saw this movie a long time ago & it was pretty wacky & humorously great, so I bought the DVD to see it again. Glad I did! Love Lily Tomlin & Charles Grodin together in a film! Makes me wish I could buy some Galaxy Glue!

Funny underrated movie. Great disk with great extras that where exclusively made of the Blue Ray. But careful it's a US disk and therefore region code A.
