NOVA 23282 LITE SuperDirect Thread 1-1/4 in. - 8 TPI Wood Lathe Chuck, Body Only Companion Set

I’ve been unhappy that Nova has gone to an insert style chuck. I have a couple of direct thread Nova chucks and a Titan. I’ve also purchased 1 insert style chuck that I’ve dedicated to my Cole jaws, it has slight run out. It seems to be fine and hasn’t affected finishing the bottom of anything, but I wouldn’t use it for regular turning. Over the last couple of years I’ve been looking for Nova direct thread chucks online, new or used. I’m already on Nova’s system so I have all the jaws that I need, for now lol, so when I saw these body only direct thread chucks I jumped on it and bought one. I received it in less than a week, coming from Canada and I’m in south Texas, that’s not bad. Body only is great for me I didn’t need another set of the small stock jaws that come in other sets that I seldom use, and that also brings the cost down. This does come with the screws for jaws and the T handle FYI. I’m so happy I found one I ordered another one just to have so I should be set. Thanks

I had previously bought a NOVA SUPERNOVA 2 chuck kit which came with extra jaws. I attached the 4" jaws to the SUPERNOVA and now I have attached the 5" jaws to this NOVA 23282 chuck. This chuck fits the 1-1/4", 8 TPI spindle on my Powermatic lathe directly - no adapter needed. I was not sure as to what came included with the chuck so I posed a question. Customer service representative Bob took time to assure me that all the necessary accessories were included including the jaws mounting screws, and they were. Great chuck and great customer service.

Direct thread Chuck easier to install it’s a lot more accurate and just easier The only other thing you’re gonna have to do is order a set of jaws to put onto it. It does come with a set of screws and two Allen wrenches and a set screw to keep it from loosening from the chuck

I've been using Nova Chucks and Jaws for years...and plan to continue use them for well into the future. Outstanding craftsmanship in every aspect!

This is my 3rd Nova chuck so I knew what to expect…..quality, and I wasn’t disappointed. Nova chucks are absolutely one of the best in my opinion (and I do a Lot of lathe work).

I have an earlier version that requires an adaptor to fit my Laguna 1.25" spindle shaft, the adaptor makes the chuck stick out too far, sometimes the piece doesn't run true. This chuck screws to my spindle without an adaptor, making it much shorter. the only issue (4-stars) is that I still need to add 2 nylon washers, as the chuck does not screw all the way. not sure if that's a Laguna issue or the chuck. otherwise, I really like it and been using it.

A great backup for my current pair of lathe chucks. A quality product.

I only use Nova chucks. Ive been using Nova chucks for decades and never had any issues. I sill use Nova chucks I’ve had for 20 years or more and they still work like new. Just keep them clean.
