Worked Great in FreeNAS Setup
I have a NAS I built that's running FreeNAS (TrueNAS Core) and I needed a few extra SATA ports. I dropped this into the M.2 slot on my Ausus ROG Strix B550-I Mini-ITX board and it worked great with no extra work required. I didn't need to load any drivers or anything, it just recognized the hard drives attached with no issues. This is exactly what I needed.

Fantastic for NAS builds
Added this to my NAS build to connect all 8 drives. Worked as intended with 0 issues. Transfer rate is great. Compatible with Windows, Linux and Truenas

Great for those needing more sata ports
Quality product, No driver installation necessary, plug and play with a nvme slot. Each drive shows up as a seperate entity, which is much appreciated! As for speeds, no difference between using this and direct connection to a sata port on MB.

solid build
I was a little hesitated to buy this but it turned out to be a very solid one. I used it on two machines, one laptop and one micro atx pc. It works well on both. I used truenas/linux with zfs. All HDD worked and file system ran smoothly. The reading speed up was as expected as my zsf setup.

Junk. Buy a HBA card instead.
Save yourself the trouble and time, and buy yourself a HBA card. Mine quit working after 3 months of light use. I think I ran 15tb of data through it. The heatsink ran very hot.

No complaints
Works as advertised. No issues in my NAS. I would recommend getting the pre-bundled sata cables as it makes for a cleaner install.

So this one is on me. Let me explain.
So this one is on me. Let me explain. This product works with ASM1166 a chipset which converts PCIe Lanes to SATA. My server motherboard an ASRock B450M Pro4 (very old) has a M.2 SATA Port not PCIe. Please make sure your motherboard properly supports this device. I wanted to use it on my PC, unfortunately while my Prime Z790-P D4 does have a M.2 NVME PCIe x4 it does not have native SATA Signaling. Meaning it does not work. You live and you learn.

Needed work to get working
When I first pluged it in I lost my boot drive almost reinstall my os but then was like let's update bios first. I had to update multiple times because reason and every time it got worse till I was on the latest one finally got my boot drive back. One of the worse first hands on experience I have ever had but it all good now. Work well love the storage pool I have now
