Although not a coffee table thickness, Pratts clear and consice writing style provides both the intermediate scientist and the total beginner the answers they are looking for to a fasinating subject they many find too mysterious to even tackle. It's very well Illustrated which becomes quite helpful in answering many questions that have sparked interest in a difficult subject. Along with the book, the bonus files are interesting and really fun! I encourage anyone with an interest in this topic to take advantage of this great value and order today.

I think Carl Pratt did the best anyone can do to explain quantum physics in plain language to a beginner. My only criticism might be that he was attempting the near impossible. The microscopic quantum world is illogical, counterintuitive and seems absurd. Maybe if I reread and think about the book a few more times I’ll have a better grasp of what he is talking about. I felt like I was blind and exploring an alien planet.

The explanations are illuminating, but some editing might have improved the consistency of the arguments.

Good start for understanding basic Quantum Physics for those of us who have no clue what it is or where to start! Written in simple, layman's terms, explanations that make sense with examples easy to relate to. The reader does have to exercise their mental faculties to absorb the full scope beyond what was generally accepted science for years. Well worth the read for the knowledge gained.

This book explains quantum mechanics in a way that ANYONE can understand. It's presented in a non-intimidating way. It's the basics though. Great for a review, too, if you're somewhat familiar with quantum physics but need a review.

I bought this book as a gift for my dad for Christmas, hoping it would introduce him to the basics and maybe spark some curiosity. He's not someone who typically reads about science, but always asks me some far-fetched questions, so I wasn't sure how it would go - but to my surprise, he enjoyed it! This book does a great job of making complex topics feel more approachable. It breaks down ideas like wave theory and quantum mechanics in a way that's easy to follow, even for someone with no background in the subject. That being said, some parts were still a bit tricky for him to wrap his head around (which is fair, quantum physics is pretty mind-bending!). But I am glad that it got him thinking, asking questions, and engaging with concepts he'd never really considered before, and assumed the whole thing was a hoax! By the end, he said he still wasn't sure he believed everything he read, but it definitely made him curious - which is exactly what I was hoping for. If you're looking for an accessible introduction to quantum physics that gets people thinking without overwhelming them, this is a great choice.
