AMAZON VINE Review of the AlyKets UC-E17 Cable I ordered this replacement CHARGE/DATA TRANSFER cable from AMAZON for my 2013 Nikon D610 DSLR camera. The camera was having trouble transferring images and EXIF data to both Lightroom and Photoshop. Basic troubleshooting identified the ELEVEN-YEAR-OLD original Nikon cable as the problem, and I immediately searched AMAZON for a replacement. This new cable from AlyKets is purpose-built for DSLR cameras and more than thirty Nikon models use this particular cable. My D610 is on that list. This is a QUALITY cable made of sturdy oxygen-free copper cores sheathed in individual flexible polyvinyl shells with STRAIN RELIEF RUBBER HOODS added to the ends for insertion and removal into CAMERA and COMPUTER ports. Those rubber GRIPS on the end of cables allow you to pinch the cable between your thumb and first finger for easy removal and insertion WITHOUT pulling on the cable itself. Pulling on the cable rather than those small grips is how cables fail as repeated pulling will eventually stretch the underlying copper until it separates. Losing even a few strands of copper will degrade the transmission quality of the data moving through the wire. These AlyKets cables ALSO have a solid plastic “lump” surrounding one end of the wire. Most quality cables have this lump. This is a Ferrite Bead, and it is an essential part of electronics safety. Without it, a lot of electronics would malfunction. They are indispensable because they suppress EMI/RFI. Electromagnetic Interference or Radio-Frequency Interference when in the radio frequency spectrum, is a disturbance generated by an external source that affects an electrical circuit. It MIGHT cause static on a radio, or “ghosting” of images on a TV, but on a computer transferring DATA and IMAGES from a camera it can cause a LOSS or INTERRUPTION of SIGNAL so your best images from today are incomplete or missing entirely. Quality cables, like these from AlyKets, have Ferrite Beads. Take a look at the attached pictures. You will see an image of the “unwrapped” cable and all the shielding of the copper cores inside the cable. That diligence increases the transfer speed of this cable by AT LEAST 40 PERCENT! In perfect conditions, as in a server room or going from FAST SSD MEDIA to FAST SOLID STATE STORAGE the rate through the Ferrite Bead equipped cable can nearly double. You WANT to see those Ferrite Beads on your data cables! My LAST cable lasted ELEVEN YEARS and it was NOT constructed nearly as well as this current one from AlyKets. I misplaced my cord for my Nikon D3300, and this cord is the perfect replacement. Everything works as it should, and I can transfer my pictures to my hard drive again using the Nikon software rather than having to pull the SD card out every time. Nice quality cord that works!

The Reason for Selection: I needed a USB cable for tethering The Good: It works The Bad: Should be longer to make it reach my tripod. The Ugly: Nothing Ugly. General observations: Ideally, this cable should be about 10' longer for my studio, but it works. I tested a Nikon D750 with Capture One loaded on a Mac Mini. All tethering functions work as expected. To solve the length issue I used a USB-C Female to USB Female adaptor to extend the length using an existing USB C cable and all worked as expected. In addition to tethered shooting, I can access all functions and camera settings via the Capture One software. The other thing that would improve this cable would be if the camera end was at a 90* angle. Otherwise the cable is constructed well. The one thing that does not seem to be available is the camera SD card does not show up as a drive in Finder with this cable. That is most likely because of the camera setup and not because of a flaw in the cable. Value for Price: From my perspective and experience, the price of $9.98 is Fair.

I use my D7100 as a photo booth setup controlled by my phone. I take the original cable to put it in a Type A female to type C female adapter. This cable removes the need for that. Works perfectly and now I don't need a cable and adapter. I charge the phone via a wireless charging plate, I have never thought to try a type C hub before... The port and camera is only USB2 so don't think this will enable faster speeds, nope just a newer connector on one end.

Lost the original cable for Nikon and this is a solid replacement. The cable connectors are put together well and there have been no issues so far plugging this in.

Auf dem Flohmarkt kaufte ich mir eine kleine, ältere Nikon. Sie sollte für meine Tochter sein, damit sie dann eine größere Auswahl an möglichen Brennweiten beim Fotografieren auf schulischen Veranstaltungen hat, ein Smartphone darf man ja nicht nutzen und jenes hat dann auch eine beschränkte Auswahl an Brennweiten. Wie dem auch sei, die Kamera hatte leider das hier zu kaufende Kabel nicht. Kurz bei Amazon reingeschaut, bestellt, nächster Tag da, angesteckt, geht - was will man mehr?

Avec la disparition programmée de la connectique USB-A j'essaye de remplacer mes câbles par câbles USB-A, il m'en manquait encore un pour pour connecter mon bon vieux Nikon D5100 à mon mac sans avoir besoin d'un adaptateur USB-A vers USB-C ce câble est parfait dans ce rôle, il ne fait que ça mais il le fait très bien !

La toma mini USB hace años que dejó de fabricarse, pero todavía es posible encontrarnos con dispositivos que tienen esta toma de datos o de corriente. Y en tales situaciones lo más aconsejable y recomendable es tener este cable USB-C, porque cada vez es más común el uso de este conector, hasta el extremo de que muchos dispositivos modernos (ordenadores, etc) ya es el único que incorporan. Este cable nos permite continuar usando los diferentes dispositivos con mini USB si ocurre que nuestro ordenador sólo tiene tomas USB-C. Sirve para cargar y también como cable de datos de alta velocidad.

Muy buena opción para conectar cámaras Nikon más antiguas con equipos modernos que solo tienen puertos USB-C. El cable convierte a la perfección y permite transferir imágenes y vídeos de manera rápida. Compatible incluso con MacBook o smartphones Android/iPhone con USB-C. Me gusta que simplifica mucho el proceso sin necesidad de adaptadores adicionales. Muy útil si aún usas cámaras clásicas pero trabajas con equipos de última generación.
