First Earth Encyclopedia: A First Reference Guide to the Geographic World

We got this book for my sons fourth birthday and he is so fascinated by it. He asks to read it every time we go into his room and it has been his bedtime book for about 2 weeks now. He especially loves the sections on the layers of the earth, soil, and oceans. He is very interested in what lives at the deepest depths of the ocean. A great book for getting conversations started and finding out what really interests a kid so you can delve a little deeper on the internet. The more you as a parent know, the more you can supplement what is presented in the book. Very glad we bought this as it is well loved by the little guy and fun to read and explain it all to him. Pictures are also beautiful.

My husband and I fell in love with DK (especially the Smithsonian line) during a trip to the Smithsonian museums and wanted to start a collection of books for our daughter. The books are filled with an immense amount of information which is presented in a fascinating, readable way. Of course the author couldn't include absolutely every single detail about the subject at hand, but they still did a wonderful job. The photos are gorgeous and a perfect complement to the information being presented. The books themselves have sturdy binding and stout construction.

Although he can't read this completely on his own, my son absolutely loves this book. When I read to him at night, he doesn't want story books, he wants this book, or any other of the "First" DK series books that we have. The pictures are great and the amount of information is just right; not too little and not too much. I like that there are real photos and not just illustrations. Great way to get the little ones interested in geography.

Wonderful for homeschooling text. A thorough resource for science.

It seemed perfect until I realized some writing at the bottom was upside down.

My children are in Kindergarten and 1st Grade. I've used this book extensively this year in our science exploration. It's a nice balance of being engaging enough to keep my kids' attention while being advanced enough in the text that I anticipate being able to refer to it for years to come.

Great photography and drawings to accompany vocabulary and simple explanations of the major aspects of the earth. We will be using this text as the basis of our homeschool cooperative science curriculum next fall when we study earth science. It includes almost everything we were going to teach and explains it at a very basic level.

Recommended product and the kid was satisfied.

My grandchildren loved this book from the moment I gave it to them. The info is well presented and very clear in small, mangeable sections with a large font. Ideal.

We purchased two of these DK mini encyclopedias and they were loved.
