Great AA game!!
Bought this on a whim and find it really enjoyable. Big selling points are the gorgeous Lake District environment and little villages, which feels quintessentially like the English countryside, and borrows heavily from British sci-fi and horror in its world design. The cast of characters are also well fleshed out, speaking a variety of different British dialects and a lot of them with their own take on the current quarantine you find yourself in (which is presumed to be caused by the Windscale Fire nuclear disaster, but as the story unfolds it's clear there's more to it than that). Quests have branching paths and can be completed a variety of different ways, which curry favour with the different factions. The game favours exploration, with 'leads' giving you things to do and a lack of quest markers in the default setting. The well-crafted environments are small enough that you can usually get to the bottom of these leads without too much hassle. Gameplay-wise combat is simple but functional - with melee, firearm and stealth options, and with throwables like Molotov cocktails and grenades. There's a kick option to stagger enemies, which is a must, and most of the combat relies on your physically getting out of the way of enemy strikes. There's a simple skill system which lets you specialise a bit into your preferred weapons, but the RPG elements are light. Consumables (from weapon upgrades to healing supplies) can be crafted with materials from the environment - overall I'm not too much of a fan of crafting in games but here it didn't feel too burdensome with enough findable in your environment to ensure you're not pulling up the crafting menu continuously. I've heard combat and exploration are highly tuneable in the options menu, but I've never felt a need to deviate from the recommended difficulty. I've experienced an audio glitch a couple of times (where all sound cuts out) which caused me to restart - but otherwise it has been bug free to far about 8 hours in. Overall I like it, run time feels appropriate for an AA experience and it has enough personality that it feels distinct. I would recommend it if you're looking for something a bit more scaled back than a AAA game but that still has a great story and fantastic world to sink your teeth into. In terms of price you will get 'more game' in AAA for sure, but sometimes that does feel more like quantity over the quality on display here.

Fallout with the Welsh
Fun game if a bit frustrating with clunky gun play and melee weapons, graphics are really nice. You get the sense that the game is massive when you first start it but as you progress you realise it’s not, I have completed most of the areas now and have put maybe 15 hours in with a lot of backtracking, no fast travel which is insane and limited space in inventory means you are always on the edge. It’s a good game worth it if you like survival, fallout/skyrim type games.

Great Fun
I love this game as its abit different based in the English country side in the 50s. Druids and Red phone boxes everywhere. Game is based around a nuclear disaster and you have many places to adventure. Overall its alot of fun which is what you want from a game

Not yet finished but not a bad game so far
Haven't finished it yet but here's my thoughts It's alright. Enjoyable for what it is, but it doesn't feel *all* there. There's just something missing. There are some comparisons to Fallout (collectible comics and lunchboxes, and the big bad science guys building secret bunkers) but it plays more like We Happy Few in my opinion. 🟢 I like the quest lead system. I'm not just following quest markers directly to where I need to go. Some need a bit more info though. I was told to speak to a particular NPC but I forgot where they said they were. I can't see any circled areas on the map and I don't remember the region. But I can't ask the NPC as there isn't any more dialogue to do check it. 🟢 Appreciate the English countryside setting 🟢 Graphics are nice. Scenery is well designed. 🟢 I appreciate crafting materials being a separate storage system not taking up inventory slots. 🟢 I like the choices of dialogue. It has full sentences for you to pick from not just single words. And each are labelled with your attitude/tone such as "wary"/"helpful"/"threatening". Helps you pick the right options without being surprised with the NOCs response 🟢 Lots of accessibility options. 🟡 FOV took me a while to get right. Felt a bit ill for the first part. 🟡 Inventory menu doesn't pause. I personally don't like these very much as I fumble the menus trying to use healing items and just die. Or I'm reading an important note and I get detected and attacked. 🟡 Enemies push me and take off like a quarter of my health. This feels a bit OP... They were just giving me a shove, not stabbing me with a pitch fork. 🟡 Wish you could sneak around a bit more. Enemy detection is fairly high. 🟡 All outlaws will do the exact same whistle. This will likely get annoying. 🟡 The game said something about survival gameplay when choosing difficulty. I'm not 100% sure what this is. There are no needs meters. 🟡 No day night cycle. 🔴 Inventory too small. Cannot upgrade it as far as I can see. 🔴 Current bug that stops you being able to walk forwards until you use a load door or save and reload.

Early contender for GOTY…
Superb! An excellent British take on a survival game that shines in all departments. Looks fantastic, has a great atmosphere, memorable locations and characters and is a very good sized game world. The lack of fast travel is slightly annoying and some of the dialogue is “idiosyncratic” but this doesn’t detract at all from the overall vibe. Couldn’t recommend highly enough. Give it a go- you’d be a silly bugger not to try it!
