How to use the soil moisture sensor ？

Insert the sensor into the soil, aligning the marking line with the soil surface for accurate measurement. Create automation or manually water the plant when soil moisture drops below a set value, based on your plant and soil conditions.

When the Third Reality Smart Soil Moisture Sensor paired with Hubitat, but can't see temperature and humidity states?

Please change the device type to "Third Reality Soil Moisture Sensor" in Hubitat, then it should work properly. Note: Update the Hubitat system to latest version.

Does it compatible with Alexa Echo devices?

No, it can not compatible with Echo devices. Alexa does not support humidity, so it is not recommended to use.

Why is the soil moisture and temperature sensor occasionally offline?

If your soil sensor is located far from the hub, it may go offline. Consider adding some Zigbee repeater to enhance the Zigbee range, like Zigbee smart plugs, Zigbee smart bulbs, etc.

Why are the data from the Soil Temperature and Humidity Sensor different from regular temperature and humidity meter?

This is because the measurement methods are different. The Soil Temperature and Humidity Sensor only detects soil surface temperatures for reference purposes only.

works great with Deconz and Home Assistant providing soil humidity and soil temperature. The baterry seems to go down a bit fast (it came with a Amazon basic "industrial" battery - not sure how good that is) - in two weeks it went down from 100% to 82%. Will probably move to rechargable.

I use these with Zigbee2Mqtt + Openhab / NodeRed to feed my Netro garden irrigation system. This device monitors soil moisture and Netro has the rules to turn on/off irrigation. Requires some initial effort (eg zigbee pairing, firmware update, calibration, offset values, optimizing reporting to maximize battery - I consider these normal for a zigbee device). Rock solid after the initial setup.

Great to detect soil moisture. Just unscrew the top, put it in pairing mode and you are off to the races. It is a bit on the big side. Not sure how to test its accuracy, but does tell me when soil is dry. Will pull these out of my pots and put the in the garden in the spring as they seem totally water proof. Little on the expensive side, but it looks like a good quality product. Just fyi, this is zigbee not standard wifi.

Works nice with Z2M and Home Assistant. It supports OTA firmware updates and since v1.00.46 the soil reading is included too. The reporting interval is every 5 minutes and at 0.2% change in moisture or 0.2C. Only the Zigbee range is a bit short at around 5 meters, especially when it is raining. But the signal does go through triple-glass windows so I’m routing them through my Ikea devices behind the glass. Maybe soldering a wire to the pcb can increase the range. The included battery is okay to start with, but mine lost 25% in the first 3 days. With Varta Long Life batteries they are still 100% after 5 days with lots of rain. The sensor is good value for the price though. I’m going to buy more.
