NINESTARS DZT-50-9 Automatic Touchless Infrared Motion Sensor Trash Can, 13 Gal 50L, Stainless Steel Base (Oval, Silver/Black Lid)

Ok, I've had this trash can for over two months now and my love affair with it is not waning one bit. First of all, it is very attractive and I love the shape. I wanted something not quite as 'roundy' as my previous one, so that it would sit more nicely up against the end of the cabinets where I have it placed. This takes up a lot less space, which is optimal since that is a traffic area from the kitchen through my small laundry room and into the garage. It gets an A+ for that. Next, is the operation of the touchless opening and closing of the lid. Although I do have this in a high traffic area of my house, I find that it has not been problematic at all for opening when I don't want it to. This happens to me much less than once a day and I walk through there probably 20-30 times a day. So, it's a non-issue. The parts are easy to keep clean and, as long as I don't empty the Dyson canister in and try to blow off the dust I get on the side (BTDT more times than I'd like to admit), it stays clean and tidy. But, if you get debris on the inside of the top piece it is just very easy to take it off, turn off the auto open switch, wash things off, and turn it back on and put it together again. Nothing is complicated at all. It is well made and a very decent grade of stainless steel so you don't feel like if you breathe on it wrong it will dent. Of course, I'm sure it is dentable if you have people playing baseball in your kitchen or something but, outside of extreme abuse, I think it will hold up for a very long time. Just be sure to put the lid on where the front of the lid is on the side of the trash can that does not have the seam down the middle, and it looks nicer. My only frustration curve, and it was a very minor one, was with seating the trash bag in the ring and getting it on there neatly and without the bag showing. It took me one time to get that down well and make it easy. It only took the cleaning lady two times, and she is one who cannot stand having to try and do something new, no matter not uncomplicated, so that says a lot toward it not being problematic. You easily get the feel for it and it takes a couple of seconds. One other thing I'd like to add - This was impeccably packed. I worry about ordering stainless steel items because so often you receive it and it has been dented in shipment. This can was packed so well by the manufacturer that it would have had to be run over by a truck to be damaged. Very impressive! In closing, really, there is nothing I don't like about this trash can. It is totally worth the price which, here at Amazon, is really very very good. I am absolutely thrilled that I found this one and I am also very thankful for all the help from Ali Julia with her review and remarks.

Works great. Lid closure is smooth and noiseless. Looks elegant and not ordinary as other waste baskets. Easy to use and clean. Motion sensor is well calibrated. Sturdy. Update: The lid does not open with finger motion. I have to press the open button each time and sometimes press it twice. I was so pleased with this but now I am totally disappointed. I read one reviewer who stated that the company sent them a new lid. I hope I can get the same response from them. I have put in new batteries three times and waited for automatic reset but it did not make a difference. I have another unit that cost me a lot less and I have had it for over a year and it still works perfectly. We purchased this unit in December of 2024. Very unhappy. *****Update as of May 5, 2025 - More recently, the lid does not open at all even when I press the button. The green light turns on but it does not detect the motion of my finger or hand. I have now written twice to the manufacturer or supplier and still have no response.

Despite my prior experiences with inside-the-can bag-lips (this is when the lip of the trash can that your garbage bag is hooked around is inside the can, as opposed to the normal outside the can), this can is great! Usually, you have issues with the bag tearing, or not fitting correctly, or even coming loose. However, with this can (13.2 gallon DZT 50-9) the lip works great. The automatic lid is springy and responsive, and gives a satisfying SNAP when the lid shuts. The stainless steel looks great, and it is very easy to wipe down with clorox wipes. After using it for 2 weeks, IT STILL LOOKS LIKE NEW! I cannot be happier with the fact that because no one in my household ever touches the can anymore, it stays perfectly clean! I'm not sure about battery life yet, but so far there hasn't been any drop in performance. My only gripe, is that the opening to the trash can can sometimes feel small. Don't get me wrong, it fits anything in your kitchen you would want to throw in there (milk jugs, boxes, etc.), but let's just say that there's very little extra room. If you look at the product picture, you can see that the actual lid is only a "cutout" lid from the top of the can. Instead of the entire top of the can going up (which my previous can had), only a small portion of the entire top of the can is actually the lid that opens. But I still give it 5/5 stars, which I think illustrates just how small of an issue this really is. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH: I think a potential reason there may be one or two negative reviews for this can is that some buyers may have forgotten to read the manual (but maybe not!). The manual tells you a few things about bag placement and lip usage that decrease the incidence of bag-related issues. I cannot advise you enough to make sure you read the manual on how to put the bag CORRECTLY inside the can. Don't take shortcuts on this, you will tear a bag, and trash will go everywhere. But if you follow their instructions, you (like me) will never have a single issue. The only reason I won't explain how to properly insert the bag in this review, is because the manual includes pictures and does a MUCH better job at explaining it than I ever could. I'm not sure if it's just me, but my first inclination on how to use the removable lip and place the bag in the can was incorrect. After reading the manual's advice, it worked much better.

Totally Amazing. We bought one of these 10 years ago and just recently it stopped working (more like acting up). For these past 10 years this trash can had been working great. We actually bought the set of two and the other one is still working. I talked to Support and they suggested that we try a reset. After doing this the Trash can worked sporadically. In the meantime, I bought another one and this one is working just fine. This one uses fewer batteries (3 Cs instead of 4 Ds) than the original. It arrived in just a few days. I didn't realize how many times one puts things in the garbage during a given day and this sure beats the step ons. This trash can is a good size and we can get lots of garbage in before we have to change the bag.

Me encantó! Tenía dudas del tamaño pero está perfecto (pongo la comparación con la garrafita de 6 litros de Bonafont). Los colores están súper bonitos, el color de la tapa es gris obscuro, no tan negro como aparece en las fotos. No tiene bote adentro como otros, tiene el anillo que es súper práctico para poner las bolsas y sacar la basura sería súper fácil. No se abre si estás pasando cerca y eso también me preocupaba. Compré las bolsas biodegradables de la marca We Care también vendidas aquí en medida de 90cm y le quedaron perfectas. Responde muy bien a la apertura, es muy silencioso, el tamaño de apertura no es nada pequeño, luce muy bien! Lo atrapé con un mega precio de $1,500 pesos y con entrega al día siguiente. Recomendado 100%.

Lo habían visto más del doble de lo que costo en Amazon en tiendas departamentales y de decoración en otras marcas pero mismo tamaño. Funciona excelente !
