They are a good buy. They also work for so many hours after the electricity goes out. Hopefully I don’t have to test them out this weekend.

Recently, we have experienced more power outages than normal due to a lot of construction around us. We have some flashlights and a few LED rechargeable lights, but I wanted something that would work in existing lamps, so I gave these a try. They work great. I've used them for 3 power outages that lasted 5 hours or longer and these stayed on the entire time. The only drawback is that they are a little taller than a regular lightbulb so they may not fit in every lamp depending on how the shade is attached and how much room there is, but in the two lamps we used them in, they fit fine. They are easy to use and lasted a long time.

I live abroad and we have unpredictable and sometimes, even scheduled power cuts. I have these bulbs in our lamps so if it goes out at night, we don’t go into complete darkness. I have small kids so this helps a ton. They are automatic and simply recharge when the power comes on. I just plug these in and ignore them. My first set endured at least two years so they last a long time. Two notes: 1. They are bigger and take up more space in the lamp. Be mindful of that. Might not fit some small table lamps. 2. They dim a good amount when they operate on battery. They illuminate a space but not at that maximum brightness when powered by electricity. They work well and have a long run life so overall I am really pleased.

EDIT: I re-purchased this item a couple of weeks ago. This time I accidentally got the "Standard (New)" version, 2 pack. This new version comes with a switch with 3 color options: 2700K, 3000K and 5000K. The first two options are indistinguishable. The last color option looks the same as your usual 6500K light bulbs, and it's my new favorite color. Still, in battery mode this bulb will use a very warm color. I highly recommend you make sure to get this "Standard (New)" version, as it solves the only big gripe I had with the old version. Oh, and these were sent to Ecuador for free together with other items. ***Original review of the old version*** I got 4 of these because Ecuador is having regular scheduled blackouts due to the energy crisis. Pros: 1) Unlike other brands that only last for 2-3 hours, these last for 5 hours. I tested this after fully charging them for 10 hours straight. I actually got bored of waiting for these to die, so I stopped the test around 5 hours. The brightness is pretty consistent while it's on battery mode. 2) No gimmicks: There's a switch in case you want to turn them on without being in a socket. Other brands force you to use special gimmicks for this. 3) These don't explode or break: If you check 1-star reviews for other brands, you'll find mentions of bulbs exploding and breaking. Not a single review of these GE bulbs mentions this. Cons: 1) They only come in warm white: The light is quite yellow, probably around 3000K. Unfortunately GE does not produce them in 6500K white. 2) They're noticeable dimmer while in battery mode: I guess this is why they last so long. Still, during a blackout this is enough for you to see where you're walking. 3) They're often not in stock: I know this has nothing to do with the actual product, but for me it's a con. Quite often, they're only available from sellers that don't ship to my country. If you see them in stock, buy them.

Several have said they think the bulbs are not that bright but they are the same brightness as the 60watt equivalent led bulbs I replaced them with. Also some mentioned they do not work when the power goes out but they do actually work when the power is out under the correct conditions. First you can't "test" them by unplugging a lamp with this bulb in it because if it can't sense the load of being plugged in it won't come on unless you manually switch the bulb on using the switch on the bulb housing. Also you can't test them by turning the breaker off to the house or the breaker to the circuit powering the lamp with the bulb in it. Since this causing the circuit to be open thus making the bulb unable to sense a power outage situation. It requires the circuit to be fully complete to the power companies lines when no power present for the bulb to turn on. To test if its working right just place the bulb's screw end onto your palm and the bulb should come on as your palm completes the circuit from the bulbs tip to the threaded part. This "short" effect is how it knows there is a need for it to turn on. Basically as long as it has a complete circuit to the "dead" transformer/lines of the power company during a power outage it will automatically turn on. That's same reason that it will stay on when used in conjunction with other things being in the same circuit as it when power is removed. Such as multiple things being plugged into a power strip the lamp with the bulb is plugged into and then turning the power strip off. This causes the bulb to sense it being a normal power outage so it turns on. When used correctly this is a really nice way to have backup lighting for a power failure. Plus as others have mentioned you can unscrew it from the lamp and flip the switch on the side of it and use it as a flashlight too. Great product !

We bought these bulbs for when we experience a power outage and they do not disappoint. We simply installed the bulb in our main lamp in the living room and it automatically charges it up. The light is bright and provides a great deal of light. So when we had a power outage the light stayed on since it was fully charged and lasted for at least 7 hours before we headed to bed. An amazing product and a life saving when you need it!

We have a camp off grid and we love these bulbs. They charge while the generator is on and then when it’s not we just turn the lights on and off like normal. I highly recommend!

I wanted a light that was rechargeable independant of the lamp but these only recharge in an electric lamp. I thought I'd keep them anyway and use them in my lamps, but they are too bid for my lamp shades.

Funcionales. Me gusta que traigan un botón para cambiar de la función de bombilla común a lámpara, mejor que otras opciones de focos recargables que tengo, aunque son mucho más caros. Lo único es que la luz es cálida, ojalá y hubiera opción de luz fría. La luz no es muy intensa.
