Work better than I expected

It's good at detecting studs, but the live wire detection tool doesn't function properly. It will say there is a live wire on every surface regardless of what it is, to include an empty cardboard boxes. I might have just received a defective unit though.

This works for what we need it to do. I have never used one before and it gave me instructions to find the beam and metal. Extremely accurate and the handheld size is great. Very easy to use when you are a beginner and great value for the price.

This stud finder was frustrating from the start. The plastic casing feels cheap and flimsy, but the bigger issue is how often it decalibrates. It constantly needed to be recalibrated, sometimes multiple times within the same wall. Even after confirming the location of a stud more than once, it gave different results each time. I ended up drilling in the wrong spot because it couldn’t stay consistent. In some cases, it didn’t detect the stud at all. The whole point of a stud finder is accuracy, and this one failed completely. Total waste of time and money.

Works as advertised, and the live wire nearby feature is an excellent feature! I also like how it can tell where the center of the stud is! For calibrating I usually point it at myself and the Stud detector just goes off the charts.

It's a little confusing but maybe I just don't know how to use it right yet. It's light and not heavy, I love how it's got the little triangle at the top so I can mark it when it finds a stud very helpful.
