I previously ordered some stackable containers with bamboo lids, but it turned out that the lids were kinda difficult to remove without any handles or knobs. I decided I would rather have lids that are easy to remove than to have containers that are stackable. So I ordered a set of these knobs. They are exactly what I needed. After drilling a hole in the center of the lids, I threaded through the screws (bolts) that came with the knobs, then screwed the knobs onto the screws until tight. The knobs are sanded very smooth and are well made, with no cracks or flaws. The knobs even have metal threads inside so that the threads won't wear out. And the screws included were just the right length for my project. The knobs are strong and tight, and allow me to easily open my containers now. I figure they are better than handles because you can pull them from any angle whereas handles require your hand to be properly oriented. So now my containers are easy to open, but no longer stackable. Because the knobs are so smooth, I imagine that over time they will become naturally 'seasoned' with the oil from our hands, and that will act as both a color enhancer, a satin finish, and as a wood preservative. But if you want to stain, varnish or paint the knobs, they are ready to go.

Sprucing up our upstairs bathroom with new paint, we were left with a small wall cabinet which had yellowed plastic knobs on the doors. Looking through Amazon we found these drawer knobs made of solid wood. What made these even more perfect is that there is a metal fitting inside each wooden knob so that the metal screw is screwed into that for a secure fit.
