Great Charger
Purchased this charger in 2019 and unit has worked flawlessly. Works on cars, trucks, ATV's, UTV's and side by sides.

Compact powerful unit that can switch back out of float mode, recondition feature pays for itself!
Not bulky and heavy like most, pretty small really with a lot of features! Ridiculously simple to use, it defaults to automatic standard charge mode and you really don't have to push any buttons if you don't want to. Huge clear display is intuitive and tells you precisely what is going on. It scrolls through charger voltage/percentage charge and what mode it's in (ie float vs recondition etc). Other brands either have vague leds or you have to push buttons to get voltage/percentage if even available. I have not used it to start a dead battery but I have no concerns about quality. The recondition mode is NOT a gimmick! I took a totally dead battery that had been in a dead car for over a year to full charge and holding. Last time I touched this battery I couldn't even jump it after trying for 20 minutes...it was totally worthless and wouldn't even turn dash lights on. Incredibly impressed. It could not save an old deep cell I have, however, this charger said bad battery when all other 'smart' chargers I've tried it on just charge it and never detect the internal short and lack of storage capacity! It is quiet until the fan kicks on over 10A charge then the thing really moves some air! Was impressed with the cooling compared to other chargers. Long story short I made an uninteruptible power supply with an inverter. This charger actively scans the battery and automatically switches from float to charge. "Big deal" you say...they all do that. But they don't, almost all chargers are either slow/low amp maintainers so they don't melt the battery, or they charge to 100% and float but won't switch to higher amps if there's a drain or short on the system (ie leave a light on in parked car). This charger is the only one I've come across that actually switches back and forth between modes...and it's a third of the price of some others I've tried and returned!

Great device for the budget friendly mind.
It’s smaller than it appears in the pictures and has a somewhat toy-like appearance. That being said, I’m happy with the purchase; it does perform as described. It’s easy to use and intuitive, though the instructions in the small fold-out manual are not laid out well, but enough to get you up and running, and the auto features work very well. It really is just connect the clamps to your battery terminals, red to hot and black to ground, plug the machine in to a standard AC power outlet, set the voltage for 6V or 12V, wait about 30 seconds, and the auto charger features take over from there. It does a comprehensive job of analyzing, preparing, conditioning, and charging. It shuts off automatically when the battery is fully charged and will not overcharge the battery. Set it up, turn it on, walk away, and return later. It is kind of a fire-and-forget-it device. I’ve used it on several batteries already, and it’s a little champ!

A Great Portable Charger
I was a bit concerned about buying this charger given its relatively low price. But, I am presently surprised. My car has a large battery and a lot of electronics. I had been taking a lot of short trips that I knew were not long enough or high speed enough to charge the battery. Sure enough, it was taking more cranking for the car to start. I didn't want to spend a lot because I don't often charge batteries. So I gave this a shot. It is compact and light, making it easy to carry and even keep in the car. Both the charging and power cables are of good length. I didn't actually measure them, but I would guess they are 4 or 5 feet each. After hooking it up, it immediately and correctly selected the battery type and charge voltage and amperage. It showed the battery was at 30%. It selected the slowest charging speed, which provides the best charging. An AGM battery, which my car has, should charge slow at low amperage. From 30% to fully charged, it took about 10 hours. After the charge, the car started immediately. The charger has an internal fan that came on automatically at some point during the charge and the charger was only moderately warm. Some reviewer, claiming to be an engineer, claimed this is just an old charger with "fluff" claims. Really? I have watched it go through the cycles and checked its output. It does exactly what is says it does. No, it (usually) will not charge a dead battery - something it CLEARLY states in the Amazon description. And, yes, when you buy through Amazon, it handles the returns, which for some reason annoyed that reviewer.

Great charger if your battery is not too far gone
My old Schumacher charger lost a diode and started to ruin batteries instead of charging them, so I hunted around and found this. In the almost 20 years since I bought the Schumacher, battery charging has been taken over by microprocessor-controlled chargers that do multi-stage charging, desulfation, etc. It's nice to have a charger that will automatically transition to a float charge once the bulk charging is done. It's handled every battery I've thrown at it, from automotive to lawn tractor to sealed lead-acid out of a backup power supply. That's the good part. The bad part is that you won't rescue a really dead battery with this. The battery in the backup power supply was stone dead (like less than 8v-- really REALLY discharged). This charger refused to charge it, claiming it was defective. Since I had nothing to lose, I hooked it up to a battery tender, which is just a low current trickle charger meant to keep a stored battery from discharging. After about an hour the battery tender had brought the voltage up enough to where the charger would recognize it, and it charged the battery without further complaint. That battery probably won't live too long after all the abuse it's received, but since it's only used for short periods of time when the power goes out, it shouldn't have to. In short, this charger works fine under most circumstances, but be aware that it does have limitations when trying to resurrect heavily discharged or neglected batteries. Since I end up doing this far more often than I really should, I ended up putting a new diode in my old Schumacher charger. I hardly ever use it any more (this new charger really does do a nice job), but there are times when you just need a "dumb" charger to get the job done.

Important for anyone who has older cars
My husband has an older car that we have restored but have trouble starting sometimes due to the battery. We purchased this because we were worried, we might get stranded. This has been an absolute life saver! We broke down in a parking lot and instead of waiting for someone to come and help we were able to use this to quickly and efficiently jump our car. Shipping: The product arrives in a shipping box with the product box contained inside. It arrives quickly and with no damage. There is foam packaging around the product that adequately protects it. Quality: The charger is sturdy and is very durable. It works exactly the way that it is intended with no issues. Process: Follow the manual that comes with the product. It is easy to set up and gives you all the information that you need. BE SURE TO FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS and take all precautions needed to keep yourself safe while working with batteries. Here is a key factor in purchasing this: When a battery stops working many people think that you can simply flag down another car and ask for a jump. If you do this you run the chance of possibly frying all of your car’s computers, this is especially true with newer cars. I didn’t realize that this could happen until it happened in one of our newer model vehicles. If you don’t want to have call a tow for a jumpstart, I would suggest utilizing this product instead. It will allow you to jump your car without the risk of damaging your cars computers. Overall, I am soooo extremely thankful we purchased this product, because you never know when you might need it and for us it was sooner rather than later!

It Charged my Hybrid Sedan
Like many others out there, I haven't driven my car out much due to the pandemic. So I needed a way to charge the battery in my car. This seemed to do the trick. Here's the history: 1. The car hasn't been driven much throughout the pandemic. 2. My car is a hybrid sedan. 3. I drove it maybe twice for short trips, but it's basically sat in the garage. 4. I used my wife's car the jump the battery and took it out for a 30 minute drive after getting it jumped. 5. A week later, I tried using it again but the car wouldn't turn over. 6. So I searched the web for a solution and/or a product. 7. So I bought this product. 8. I plugged it in a charged up the battery. When I plugged it in and clicked on the Charge button, it said 0% capacity and about 9.something volts. It took almost 24 hours for the battery charger to go to the FLOAT stage. LIKES: * It was really easy to use. * Fairly inexpensive solution to charge the battery. DISLIKES: * Somewhat bulky compared to other products on the market. DON'T KNOW OR HAVEN'T TESTED OR MISC: * I haven't tried the start assist feature on this product * From my research, I guess there's a difference between a battery charger versus one that jump starts a car. So I bought this to charge the battery since I could jump start the car with another car * I've only used it once.

Avoid this product, does not work
This product is absolutely junk. If the battery is completely dead or has very little charge, this will do nothing for you. Tried charging my Dodge Ram battery on this and it goes thru conditioning / bulk while making some noises and then just reads battery failure. Had this same behavior on other batteries I tried to charge with this product. Decided to toss this charger in the garbage as it could be potentially dangerous in that it could overcharge the battery. I researched other chargers on Amazon and bought the NOCO Genius 10 charger, since it has a much more reputable brand. Plugged the same Dodge Ram battery into the NOCO charger and it charged to full capacity overnight. The Ampeak charger is nothing but cheap Chinese junk, DO NOT BUY!
