Light, easy to use. Sharp blades which have not as yet become dull after considerable use. Well constructed and robust shears. Seem to be able to get through most types of hedge. Worked well on an old, very dense ivy and a large beech hedge. Tips of blades were very useful in reshaping bushes that had lost their shape.

These are the best shears I've ever used - light, well-balanced, comfortable but (because of the gearing) powerful. I've given mine quite hard use on everything from grass to quite thick beech hedging and they have remained sharp and without any play developing in the mechanism. Unfortunately, as other reviewers have noted, the plastic gearing will break sooner or later; mine lasted two seasons.

Never having tried hedging before, I can't say that I have anything to compare these shears to, but in practice these shears did a really good job and are relatively easy to use, cutting through some tough woody material as well as the leave steams - I had a lot of overgrown ivy to tame. I went to a local DIY store and looked at all of the available products in this category; I tried them out in the store, feeling for ease of use, comfort, etcetera. These Fiskars were the in store undisputed winners. More expensive than the others but a pleasure to use. A really nice product.

I bought a pair of these in New Zealand for myself and they were so good when I came home to the UK I bought a pair for my mum, too. They are very sharp, very easy to use and can tackle pretty tough stuff. I use them to prune a Leylandii hedge and some of that is very thick indeed. It's great for the smaller stuff too, dead-heading and the like. Highly recommend. You know the feel of quality when you first use it.

My gardener broke my Fiskars so these are my second pair. They are brilliant for middle weight gardening. I used them to shear our hedge which is quite big and for clipping back some of the trees in the garden. They're smooth, sharp, comfortable and quite light so ideal for a lady like me. My husband likes to use them too. The last pair we had lasted 2 years and didn't get blunt, we never sharpened them. They only broke when the gardener used them for a very thick branch which is not what they're for. Highly recommend!

We have about 175m of rhododendron hedge, which grows at a furious rate, so bought these to cut the hedge until we can afford petrol hedge cutters. They are well made, light and well balanced. Have used them a lot this season already. The handles are smooth so no sore hands after a whole day day of use. The only issue I have with them is that the cutting blades only cut towards the tip (about the last 2 to 3 inches). I returned one pair for replacement, but noticed on the second pair that this appears to be intentional and this is indicated on the packaging. So only 4 stars, but they get continuous use in our garden during the growing season.

Have used one of these for around 15yrs, and found it hugely reliable. My current one has recently begun to be worn on the black plastic central joint, the teeth slipping and leaving the blades at an angle. Because of design have been able to repeatedly tighten the nuts on the bolts in past years, but I think it's just gone too far now, so have ordered another. Can really recommend this item, and in fact was looking for a long handled version, but couldn't find one. Don't bother with the cheaper makes and models, go for quality, sharpen, oil & take care of it & you won't regret your purchase.

Top notch quality. I can’t work out where they are made ? Quite heavy, handles secured with screws, why not make them adjustable ?

...ist das Ding genau das Richtige! Qualität, wie von Fiskars gewohnt! Das Teil ist ein Leichtgewicht, fast wie ein Spielzeug, schneidet aber dank Getriebe und scharfen Klingen auch kleinere Äste nahezu ohne Kraftaufwand. Macht einen qualitativ guten Eindruck, kein Klappern, keine gegeneinander verzogenen Klingen. Hab es selbst zum Schneiden einer steinalten Ligusterhecke benutzt, die mittlerweile massig Holz angesetzt hat. Wo elektrische Heckenscheren den Dienst versagen (Äste zu dick), geht das Ding hier durch wie durch Butter. Auch größere Hecken (höher/länger) sollten mit dem Ding kein Problem sein. Die benötigte Kraftanstrengung ist lächerlich, das Gewicht ebenfalls, auch Überkopfarbeiten sollte somit kein Problem darstellen.

Ich habe mir die Fiskars geholt, da ich schon Axt und Unkrautstecher hatte und auch mit beiden sehr zufrieden bin. Und was musste ich feststellen? Fiskars hat mich wiedermal begeistert. Ich habe nicht nur die Hecke beschnitten, was sehr leicht geht, sondern auch meine Weide. OK bei 1,5cm dicken Ästen kommt die Heckenschere! an ihre Grenzen, aber zu Bäume beschneiden ist sie halt auch nicht gedacht. Dennoch war es bequem, dies diesmal ohne Leiter zu tun, da ich mit der Heckenschere gut in die Höhe kam, auf die ich die Weide beschneiden wollte( ca. 2- 2,5m). Der Schnitt bei der Hecke ist sauber, was ich von meiner elektrischen Schere überhaupt nicht sagen kann. Ich rolle zum Heckenschneiden kein Kabel mehr aus! Fazit: Fiskars ist sein Geld wert, auch wenn ich sonst eher billig einkaufe.

Så mycket bättre än min gamla.
