My buddy in the UK has a recipe for Bolognese which I wanted to try... when he said he put relish in it, I was interested... then he explained it wasn't the chopped pickles we are used to... it was this... so I ordered some. I've found it useful for many things... even French fries... Here is what my buddy came up with... 450g mince (1 pound Ground Beef) Chopped garlic 1 finely chopped onion 2 medium-sized carrots diced. 1 tin tomato Frito (pureed tomato sauce with a hint of onion and garlic. 1 tin Passata (thick paste made from strained tomatoes) Tomato paste Generous dash of Henderson's relish (makes all the difference) Sprinkle of Paprika Good luck!

Very good vegan and gluten free alternative to Worcestershire sauce. Strong flavour, packed with umami and with a slight spicy kick. Goes well with gravy or in soups and casseroles.

This is great and suitable for vegans so no nasties in it like fish. It also keeps great while not loosing any of its taste. The taste itself is lovely and perks up everything savoury. I've put it on salads, pasta, cooked vegetables, in sandwiches and jacket potatoes. I would put it on toast if I ate toast! The item arrived on time and was packaged very well and looked exactly like the photo plus it arrived in perfect condition. As it is made in Yorkshire it also helps support a British business and, for me, is quite local so more eco-friendly.

I'd never heard of Henderson's relish despite having had a girlfriend from Sheffield many moons ago. Bought it out of curiosity after seeing it used by a chef on great british menu. It's delicious, really delicious. Totally different flavour than Worcester sauce, although the colour and bottle is similar, I've been using it instead because for me the taste is way better. Shame it's not available on the shelf in Ireland but I'll absolutely be buying it again.

Have not used this yes but couple of recipes was going to cook had this as an ingredient. Check on line and people say that this has a different taste. Yet to use but useful store cupboard ingredient for someone who cooks a lot

I discovered this relish about twenty years ago and it went from my vegetarian/vegan substitute for Worcestershire sauce to a regular dash in most of my savoury meals. Aside from adding it to typically British dishes, like pies, chips or soup, it can make a great twist to stir fries. I know the Henderson’s relish recipe book uses the sauce in desserts as well as savoury classics but I haven’t ventured there. My only criticism is that it is a bit pricey but for our household it’s been worth it.
