I love these lighters. It must be a bad batch. One other review had the same problem. It takes both hands! Then... the flame was stuck on 'blowtorch' Almost lost an eyebrow. Just kidding. My husband can work them. l just now Ordered the regular ones

I have strong hands from growing up on the farm and from doing massage as a second career. Even for me, these lighters are so awfully hard to use that they hurt my hands! They are completely useless to me. A previous generation of Scripto electronic lighters was easy to use, so I was surprised to find these so badly designed. I had to buy a batch of lighters made by another familiar company. What a difference!

These lighters are ideal for people who want a lighter that can sit in a pocket or pack for months, and work. No, these aren't Bic's with a roller that require light pressure pushing down on a tab first that lets the gas escape. Then a hard sideways scrape across the roller 20 times. To find out that all the gas is expelled from inadvertent pushing on the tab. I am buying more now, for emergency supplies for friends. No, needing a smoke is not an emergency to me. Starting a fire is. Push straight down, firmly. And it works.

I have been using Scripto products for years This was the first time tho, I ordered the Ultimo, I will use them, but they are not my favorite. I will reorder the other regular Scripto lighters Nothing against them, just like the other ones better. I would recommend them.
