The Castafiore Emerald stands in a special category, as it is not the usual fare where Tintin goes on an adventure to some other country and comes face to face with people from another culture in a different part of the globe. Instead it has Tintin and company staying put at Marlinspike Hall for a change. Bianca Castafiore comes there with her entourage to stay and perform, with all the brouhaha that involves. Interspersed with that are the character interactions that are a hallmark of these comics, specially the love affair between Castafiore and Captain Haddock. The book presents a memorable picture of each character. I purchased it for my niece and she seemed amused by the unique characterisations in the story.
